The next thing I knew the sun was rising and beginning to start the day. I got up and sniffed the air around the house, the cold ones scent was long gone. I took this opportunity to run back to the car and head towards Sam's house.

Paul pov

I drove down the driveway as the sky began to change colors and found myself at Sam's within minutes. I parked my truck and instantly felt the tension in the air. Finding the boys gathered around the table I found my seat and Sam spoke up.

"There's been a report of a fisher being attacked by an animal. They aren't sure what kind, all they know if it completely drained him of his blood." The boys started throwing out accusations and Jacob made sure to mention the Cullens. But Sam shushed everyone.

"It's clear this is a new cold one in the area and based on what happened with Paul the other night I'd say we have a pretty good guess of who may have caused it. Anything to report?" He asked the group to which the boys chimed in with the usual reports and anything they had found suspicious while patrolling. They hadn't found anything substantial so I spoke up.

"Last night after taking y/n home I found the house covered in the scent of the cold one I'd seen. I camped outside for the night and she didn't return. I'm guessing she could smell us on the place and she figured I'd be best if she didn't stick around." Jacob had a stressed look on his face and Sam spoke again.

"Alright. They can be tricky and they tent to play sick games with their prey so if you think she's targeting y/n let's have two guarding her and the rest patrol as usual. With that the morning meeting ended and we began eating the breakfast Emily had made. As soon as I finished I got up to leave but was stopped by Jake.

"You better head home and shower if you're planning to see y/n again. You smell." He said plainly while finishing his food and placing his dish in the sink.

"I'll head home and check on my cousin and you get cleaned up. We'll take her for a hike and she won't leave our sight. I'll take care of her." He said patting my shoulder, I knew he meant it. She was his family and that made me feel better. Jake took off towards his house and me towards mine.

I got home and quickly hopped in the shower, getting changed and back in the car in record time. I didn't want to waste a moment more away from her. I began driving to Jakes house.

Y/n pov

The birds chirping outside my window and the sun beams dancing on my face woke me up. I began to stretch awake before my door flung open and Jake jumped onto my bed.

"Morning Cuz!" He said while flopping on the bed and placing his hands behind his head.

"I could have been changing idiot." I said smacking him in the head with my pillow.

"Nah I just heard the snoring stop so I figured you just woke up!" He said throwing the pillow back at me and getting up from my bed. I caught it before it hit my face and when I lowered it he was standing by my door.

"So Paul and I were thinking about going on a hike today if you wanna come?" I looked around at the boxes in my room and back up at him.

"I'd love to but I have to deal with these boxes before I go crazy." I joked ad I got up to go use the restroom.

"What if we help with boxes and then we hike?" He asked as I passed him. I don't see why not!

"Sure sounds like a plan!" I said going into the bathroom and brushing my teeth and hair. I exited the restroom and upon shutting my bedroom door a knock sounded down the hall and I heard the bro-ish hellos between Jake and whom I assumed was Paul.
