The sun had long surrendered to the night, leaving the forest cloaked in a veil of shadows.

The towering trees loomed like ancient sentinels, their branches whispering secrets to the wind as Taehyung and his small group of pack warriors forged ahead.

The cool night air carried a biting chill, and every rustle seemed to echo through the silence, heightening the tension in the atmosphere.

Despite the quiet, the weight of fatigue was beginning to settle into their bodies, each step feeling heavier than the last.

The day had been long, the terrain unforgiving, but Taehyung refused to falter.

His face betrayed none of the weariness tugging at his muscles. He had to remain strong, especially now.

Not just for his pack, but for the thoughts that gnawed at him with every passing moment.

His mate.

The Lycan.

A shadowy figure who lingered at the edges of his memories, more a dream than a reality.

He had only caught glimpses, a flash of dark eyes, a powerful figure standing in the distance.

It was enough to haunt him, to stir something deep within his chest, yet not enough to offer any real understanding.

Who was this mate, this stranger destined for him? He wanted to know him.

The real him.

Taehyung’s heart wrestled with a flood of emotions, curiosity mingled with longing, hope entangled with fear.

The visions he had nurtured quietly in his mind felt fragile now, slipping through his fingers like sand.

What if this mate didn’t live up to those visions?

What if the reality was harsher, colder? And most of all, what if his mate didn’t love him?

Rejection. The word echoed in his mind like a cruel reminder.

Why? Why the rejection? He was torn between the instinct to find out the truth and the fear of what he might discover.

Serene, his wolf, had been uncharacteristically silent.

The bond they shared was usually a source of comfort, her presence steady and reassuring.

But tonight, she had withdrawn, retreating into the quiet recesses of his mind.

The absence of her voice unsettled him more than he would admit.

It felt like a missing part of himself, leaving him exposed and vulnerable.

Why aren't you saying anything, Serene? He asked inwardly, but only the quiet of the forest answered.

Maybe, like him, she was preserving her strength. Maybe she, too, sensed the gravity of what lay ahead.

Pushing his doubts aside, Taehyung refocused on the mission at hand, finding the Lycan.

The path before him stretched into darkness, unknown and dangerous, but he couldn’t afford to falter now.

There was no room for distraction, no space for the uncertainty curling in his chest.

Yet, as they pressed deeper into the woods, he couldn’t help but feel like every step was pulling him closer not only to his mate but to a truth that might change everything.
