Hey Tillies,
I have changed the characters' names to simpler ones as many of you had difficulties remembering the original Thai names. I am sorry that due to repeating the names of the cast, I cannot use their real names. I hope you understand.
✨✨✨✨
"You did it on purpose, didn't you?" I almost jumped out of my skin when I suddenly heard the voice.
I turn around and there stands the great Third Prince of Trippaweth, Khun Pawak Jitama. How does this man even walk without making a single noise?
"Swadee Khrab, Third Prince." I salute him immediately.
"There's no need for formalities between us. We are family after all," He stares at me with a knowing smirk on his lips.
What did he just say? My whole body stiffens does he know something? Does he really know it? Preparing myself for the worst, I ask "I don't understand what you are talking about, Third Prince."
He starts laughing and the laugh is sending chills down my spine. "If that's how you want things to go, then let it be for the time being."
I am dead. I am so dead. How did he find out about me and the crown prince?
Wait a minute, you all seem really confused. Don't tell me you forgot what the third prince looked like! I will show you his most recent pic.
Maybe the food at his research Center is better than the palace, he seems to have gained a few kilos. Thanks to his royal blood, he still looks so good. If it was me who gained weight... God don't remind me! The effort I had to put in to get back then to get back in shape. Those horrendous days still give me nightmares!
Why am I saying all these again?
Oh, yes! I was talking about the third Prince catching me red-handed! Damn it! Stupid me!
"But I do have to ask you why you send Tula to Rag?" He changes the subject quickly, much to my relief. "Why do I have a feeling that you did it on purpose?"
Is it too late to wish that he had changed the topic to another subject rather than this? I did send Tula to Rag, I mean the sixth prince on purpose, But I am not going to admit it. I don't want to lose my head.
"Tula was sent to the Sixth Prince to be his bodyguard, Khrab. Tula is one of the best recruits as well, Khrab." I lie to his face. Well, it is not a lie. It's just that I am not telling the truth that he wants to hear.
He chuckles. "Lord Trais, since you are so confident about your soldier, I am sure that you have run a background check on him as well, no?"
Don't tell me what he is talking about...
His gaze turns sharp. "Then, didn't you find that he has a criminal record?" I can literally feel his eyes looking straight into my soul. "He is a murderer."
This bloody vile asshole! How dare he!
"If a sixteen-year-old boy is brave enough to pick up a gun and even put his life in line to ensure the safety of a royal family member, he should be given the title of a 'knight' than a 'murderer'," I replied briskly.
I don't care if he gets offended by this, but he has certainly offended me by badmouthing Tula to me. According to the character backstory of Tula, he used to date the Third Prince, or it could be said that at least he thought he was dating the Third Prince.
Third Prince on the other hand, never took Tula seriously and used the latter to amuse himself. His top-notch manipulation skill and trickery made Tula a puppet in his hands.
Tula was so deeply in love with him that he was even willing to give up his life for him.
It was around that time the war broke out in the borders and the neighboring country sent assassins to kill the royal family members.
Those assassins targeted the princes in particular. Their first target was the third prince. As a high schooler back then, he didn't actually take his guards with him while going to school.
The assassins attacked him right outside the school. That day, it was all thanks to Tula that the third prince was not killed. Tula fought the assassins and ended up with severe injuries.
The fight caused him to be kicked out of the school and have a major demerit from the criminal record of shooting the assassin to death in defense.
I really can't believe that the Third Prince is not feeling thankful towards him at all! Self-centered asshole!
He laughs out loud hearing my words. "I never expected Lord Trais's information literacy to be so rich."
"I would take it as a compliment from the Third Prince," I bow to him humbly.
The truth about the incident was forever buried by the emperor for the purpose of political safety. Pawak must be surprised that I managed to find this out.
Though I don't plan on showing all my cards to him, I still do need to show enough of them so that my job or life is not threatened.
"Interesting," His eyes shine in a sly light. "Really really interesting."
I seriously don't like the way he is looking at me right now. I get the feeling of being constricted by a giant python. It's suffocating.
He takes a step towards me. "You are way more fascinating than I thought you were." He caresses my cheeks. "You have caught my interest."
"WHAT ON EARTH IS GOING ON HERE?" The Crown Prince's thunderous voice echoes the hall. He strides over to us with unconcealed anger on his face.
For the first time since I came here, I am thankful for his presence. I don't want to spend another minute alone with the Third Prince. He is giving me creeps.
"Third Prince greets the Crown Prince," Pawak does the customary bow to him.
Patag waves his hand, dismissing the greeting. "Tell me why you are here!" His tone is not actually friendly.
Did someone piss him off? No idea.
"I was just passing here and I thought that I could drop by and say hello to Lord Trais," He glances at me and gives Tag a provocative smile.
"Oh?" Patag scorns. "I didn't know that the Third Prince was really close to Lord Trais here that you even took your time to visit him."
This doesn't sound right. Why do I sense hostility being directed towards me? I didn't do anything! I wasn't the one who invited him over! He came here by himself!
"We are," Pawak smiles.
"I think it's getting late. Third Prince should head back, now that you have finished visiting your 'friend'." It might sound like a casual sentence but it is not. It's a command.
"Khrab. I will take my leave, Khrab." Pawak peeks at me. "See you around, Lord Trais."
He walks out of the room, after throwing me under the bus.
"What was he hear for?" Tag questions me as soon as the door closes.
"He was here to ask about Tula. They were acquaintances in the past. He came here after hearing about Tula's appointment as the Sixth Prince's bodyguard." I answer honestly.
"Just that?"
"Khrab, just that."
Suddenly, he caresses my cheeks the same way Pawak did. "I didn't know that you were so affectionate towards all your friends, Trais. Or it is just the Third Prince that you are affectionate with?"
Oh-oh! I am screwed!
