(M/N)There were numbers on our suits and Ego explained the number you were given determined your ranking out of 300 based on your skill.
Instinctively, everyone looked down on the sides of their suits to see where they were ranked.
'Damn.. 290. There must be crazy good players in this building.' If this is out of 300 we must all be the lowest of the low.
"Wow (M/N) impressive! it seems like you're one of the highest here. I got 299.. just one above the bottom." Isagi praised looking at my ranking.
I looked around at everybody else's rankings. It seemed there was just one person higher at 289. Kira Ryosuke.
" Well if this is out of 300 it means nothing. If we're here to improve our skills, i'm sure we'll climb together."
Isagi smiled at my answer and seemed a little more determined.
The commotion died down and we both turned back to the screen as Ego explained what we'd be doing. It was some sort of soccer tag? I didn't quite get it until an 'it' sign was shown on the screen above the person with the ball.
The lowest ranked player at 300 started with the ball. The objective was don't get hit and end up it by the time 2 minutes was up.
Soon everyone started running trying to distance themselves from the ball. The atmosphere took a complete 180 as the confused looking players quickly adjusted and locked in.
Nobody could afford to have their future soccer career destroyed by a little game of tag.
As i ran in the opposite direction, my mind was overwhelmed with all the new information i had to process. I didn't noticed the boy just laying on the floor and ended up tripping.
"what the- "
I didn't have the chance to catch myself but before i could make contact with the ground, a body cushioned my fall.
"Ah- i'm sorry my apologies i didn't notice you there!"
My legs were knelt on one side of his body while my arms draped over the other. He groaned rising up slowly from his previous rested position. Our faces were now only a few inches apart. He looked around a bit confused.
I slightly flushed backing up and straightening myself once more.
"Good morning" the boy moaned out whilst stretching out his arms and rubbing his eye a bit.
' ..is this guy serious?' i thought to myself.
All of a sudden, the ball came flying this way at a rapid pace towards the boy still settled on the ground in a criss-cross position.
My body moved on its own, jumping in front of him and catching the ball between my legs. I looked up seeing a my name and a chibi version of my face on the screen with the word 'it' written above it.
'hmm.. maybe this could be fun.' I ran simultaneously dribbling the ball between my feet.
As i looked around the room for a target, i remembered the one person in the room a rank higher than mine.
If i want to get stronger, i have to take down the strongest. I positioned myself in his direction and was about to take a shot till i noticed the ball was no longer at my feet.
"You're right, if you want to get stronger you gotta aim for the strongest."
I turned and saw the boy with the yellow bob i had tripped on had stolen the ball from me.
"heyy i was really getting into it." i frowned pouting a little. Looking up at the screen i saw his name 'Meguru Bachira'
He smiled at me. A wide cheerful one while running and dribbling the ball at an insane speed with precision. I watched in awe as he moved around with it like he was one with the ball.
I swear the look in his eyes changed to one of what looked like a state i could only describe as the flow. I noticed Isagi running also had the same look in his eyes.
The next few seconds felt like a blur as it happened so fast my eyes could barely keep up.
Bachira swiftly passed the ball to Isagi and as soon as he got it, he fiercely kicked it with such force towards Kira.
The timer rung signaling the game was over.
I couldn't contain my excitement and ran towards where Isagi and the yellow haired guy were. When i see amazing plays like that i just can't help but express it.
"that was incredible Isagi! the way your leg struck out as as soon as it made contact with the ball was insane! and youuu how do you dribble like that?!"
Isagi looked to be in a state of shock for a second but came back to his senses, blushing hearing my sudden praise.
"Ah- i really don't know what happened honestly my body kinda moved on its own. Though, the way you trapped the ball was amazing too!"
"did you feel it to?." Bachira spoke
"huh?" we both looked at him in confusion.
"i could tell you both have a monster same way i do. One that makes you makes you do crazy things on the field. I could see it in your eyes." he smiled excitedly finding people who shared this 'monster'.
I didn't know exactly what he was talking about but responded anyway. "hmm i guess so. Id like to learn more about this monster."
He looked me for a few seconds seemingly analyzing something before asking "what's your name?"
" Im (M/N) (L/N)"
They both then introduced themselves afterwards. He opened his mouth again but before he could say anything the screen went back on and Ego came to give a recap on the plays.
(Rin)
As soon as he got to the building he frantically looked around for a specific person.
'Oh right, (M/N) is in building 1.'
Many thoughts ran through his mind quickly almost as if they would swallow him whole. He went through multiple different emotions in just a few minutes. Although he didn't show it on his face.
Being in this strange place he wasn't too keen on coming to in the first place and realizing he'd be separated from (M/N) caused a weird aching feeling in his chest.
'What is wrong with me? Is it this blue lock thing that's making me feel this way..?
It's not like I'm nervous about failing. No way will this thing be anywhere close to a challenge. So why?'
Ego soon appeared on the screen and explained the same set of rules of the game of tag for the room of people Rin was in.
'I'll come find you as soon as this stupid thing is over.'
