"This is the place right" I asked looking at the building right in front of us. We had both apparently gotten a note from this 'Blue Lock' place in had never heard of beforehand.
On the day Rin saw the note, he grazed over it and notified me about it. It had contents along the lines of 'we recognize your talent and ability and would like to invite you to this place to improve your skills' or something like that.
Rin told me that it was likely that i had been invited as well and should check in the morning. Turns out i had also gotten a letter. A week later, here we are standing in front of this sketchy, warehouse looking building.
Rin made sure that we were close to each other at all times. There were many others already here so he said i could easily get lost among the crowd due to my height. I was older than Rin by a year but shorter than him by a few inches.
I hesitantly glanced around and recognized some of the people here. There were many amazing players i had prior only seen in articles all gathered in this one place.
We were standing in the back near the entrance. In walked a navy haired medium height boy with a taller white haired boy next to him. The white haired man was someone i had recognized in an article i had read online somewhere as the 'Jewel of Japan', Ryosuke Kira.
The blue haired guy took a look around, caught a glimpse of and made eye contact with me. His eyes sparkled for a second and looked as though he wanted to approach and say something but decided against it.
'Maybe he recognized us' i thought to myself. It wasn't impossible as Rin's brother Sae was a football figure recognized in Japan as an impeccable player. He was offered to play for a team internationally after all. As we all used to play together naturally, we would be recognized too.
The room went dark and the buzzing in the room eventually fell silent. The man standing in the front on stage introduced himself as Jinpachi Ego, the man who invited all these amazing players to this place and started a long speech on finding players to represent Japanese soccer. I more or less tuned out the speech but got a gist of what he was saying.
Basically it was a facility dedicated to increasing and strengthening the skills of the 300 players whose talents had been recognized by the man and his assistant to be candidates for the U-20 world cup.
Rin seemed to be completely uninterested, almost like he regretted coming here. I squeezed his hand gently causing him to look down at me.
"Did you even pay attention or catch any of that?" i asked him my voice laced with concern.
"That man kept yapping i zoned out" he answered with a bored expression on his face.
All of a sudden, the lights went back on signaling the assembly was over. The guy with white hair i had recognized had a few complaints about this whole Blue Lock thing.
"So we're gonna be living in some sketchy building with a buncha other guys, what about the teams we already have?? You just expect us to leave and stay at some shitty place?!" he screamed out, and soon majority of the other players rose in an angry uproar agreeing with him.
It was a back and forth arguement and i was already sick of it. "Maybe we should've left when we had the chance." i stated peering at Rin who with a straight face only nodded in agreement.
As soon as everybody settled down Ego gave the choice to everyone to either stay or 'lock off'.
Suddenly the navy haired boy i had seen standing next to Kira started running towards the doors inside Blue Lock. That must have fired everyone up because soon after, everyone followed after towards the inside. Not gunna lie I felt myself get a little excited too.
