I roam the house looking at every room and knew that with the music and the house it was perfect from the very first moment. I am left to look by the landlord when he needs to take a call and I wander around imagining my new life and future. I went out to the back yard singing along to the album I look out and know everything is perfect. Sitting on the porch steps, and my favourite song comes on, 'Heroes' so I sing a little louder leaning my head against the porch.
A head suddenly pops up above the fence looking at me and three more follow. All smiling and staring in my direction. They wave and I blank them for a second. Curiosity gets the better of me I walk over and taking out one of my ear buds. They all look slightly younger than me one pale and three tanned grinning like Cheshire cats. I just give them a look that says and you want. The pale one looks at me cockily.
"You like All Time Low?" He grins at me expectantly. I nod slowly frowning at why it was relevant.
"You ever heard of 5 Seconds of Summer?" The pale boys says staring intensely and expectantly at me. I suddenly click as to who they are but I refuse to let the recognition pass my face.
"Yes, why do you ask?" I continue to frown back. They start to look slightly disappointed but shrug it off.
"You sing beautifully, are you moving in?" His cocky grin returning to his face. "You do listen to 5 Seconds of Summer though?"
"So many questions, I might be moving in it depends if I find somewhere I like better in the next two weeks. I have listened to them yes." I smile back unsure why I am smiling.
"Do you like them?" They all look hopefully. I pauses just for suspense.
"I have heard worse and better." I look up and see their faces and start laughing. They all look confused. "I love them and I know that they are you. I'm winding you up."
The relief that passes over their faces sets them off giggling. Their laughs all have a musical quality to them it was nice to know that friendly neighbours still existed as well as them being cute. The landlord comes back snapping us from our laughter. His accent much thicker than the four Aussies on the other side of the fence.
"You can have it at a reduced cost if you sign the contracts today." I look up and immediately agree to take the house with a smile and a glance at the heads peeking over the top of the fence.
"I will go get the contracts and will be back, you don't mind waiting do you?" The rather tanned large man remarks.
"Nope not at all, not in any particular rush now." I shoot back but he has already gone. Looking back I see that I am still being stared at.
"So did you agree to the house because of us or us?" The pale man cheekily replies I now realise he is Michael.
"The house and area are perfect for what I was looking for and I took the great offer whilst it was there before I lost it. You are all very sure of yourselves aren't you?" I grin back at them watching them blush slightly.
"You going to invite us round so we can chat properly without the fence?" Michael asks looking hopeful.
"Sure see you at the door." I look up and they had already gone. Walking up to the door and opening it there all four of them stand. Looking like kids trick or treating waiting for the candy. I step aside letting them all try and pile through the door all at once. Tripping over each other into the empty house echoing as they land in a heap against the wall.
"You're all a bit eager." I giggle at the heap of bodies fighting to get each other off one another. I walk over holding my hand out to Michael pulling him out of the tangle of bodies and doing the same for the other three. I walk out through the kitchen to the porch all following me.
"You're from the UK right?" The one with the great smile said I remember his name is Ashton. I gave them a no shit look you couldn't miss my accent compared to theirs.
"Yes I am from Sheffield. Come a long way." I sigh sitting on the steps. "Not sure now what I am gonna do for the next two weeks house hunting was a pretty short venture."
"We could tell you some good places to go, just hire a car and explore plenty of outdoors round here." Ashton suggested.
"Good plan. I love a good adventure might inspire my next book or TV series." I smile at them.
"You're a writer then?" Michael asks with an interested look on his face.
"Yes and you are all very nosey for people I have only just met." They all blush and look down at the floor. "It's OK I am a writer, nosey comes with the job."
We chat until the door opens and the landlord comes back in. Walks up to me and notices the boys raising an eyebrow he passes me the contracts. I read them through carefully taking in every detail checking they aren't scamming me. I fill in all the details required and hand them back to him. He reads through all the details. He said the keys would be available for me as soon as the payment processes. I exit the house followed by these men I had only just met.
"Want to join us for Pizza?" Michael looked hopefully in my direction. I feel my stomach rumble and nod.
"What's the worst that could happen?" I smile and follow them into what turns out to be his parent's house.
"You don't mind Pepperoni or just cheese do you....I feel silly you know our names but we don't know yours." Ashton muttered blushing.
"Gabriella but you can call me Gabby or Gabs. I hate Gabriella I only get called that when I am in trouble." I give them a cheeky grin.
"Gabs is shorter we will go with that" Michael states.
"Well chosen I don't mind either way." I giggle punching Michael lightly on the arm. "I don't mind either pizza, I'm easy."
"Oh really there is something we will have to test out then." Michael grinned with a laugh. The others laughing too, setting me off.
