Wei Ying wasn't one to shy away from a night out, especially when surrounded by friends who felt more like family. The bustling club was alive with music and laughter, a haven where the stresses of daily life could be forgotten, if only for a few hours. Tonight, Jiang Cheng, Nie Huaisang, Wen Ning, Wen Qing, Jin Zixuan, and Jiang Yanli had gathered to celebrate Jiang Cheng's promotion.

As the night wore on, Wei Ying found himself at the bar, downing shots and cocktails without much thought. The warmth of the alcohol spread through his body, easing the constant worry that had been gnawing at him since his recent medical revelation. He laughed and danced, feeling free and unburdened, if only for the night.

Nie Huaisang, ever the social butterfly, flitted between conversations, while Wen Ning and Wen Qing kept a watchful eye on everyone, ensuring no one got too out of hand. Jiang Yanli and Jin Zixuan shared a quiet moment at a table, their affection for each other palpable even in the dim light of the club.

Jiang Cheng, always the responsible one, was the first to notice Wei Ying's increasing inebriation.

"Wei Ying, maybe you should slow down," he suggested, his concern evident.

Wei Ying waved him off with a grin.

"Relax, Cheng! It's a celebration, remember?"

But as the night progressed, Wei Ying's steps grew unsteady, and his laughter a bit too loud. He was lost in the haze of alcohol when he felt a steadying hand on his arm. He turned to see Lan Zhan, one of the Twin Jades of Gusu, standing beside him. Lan Zhan's usual stern expression softened slightly as he looked at Wei Ying.

"You should be careful," Lan Zhan said, his voice calm and measured.

Wei Ying laughed, leaning into the taller man.

"You worry too much, Lan Zhan. Come on, let's have fun!"

Lan Zhan didn't protest as Wei Ying dragged him onto the dance floor. The two moved together, their bodies swaying to the rhythm of the music. Despite his usual reserved nature, Lan Zhan seemed to relax, his eyes never leaving Wei Ying.

Hours later, the club began to empty out, and Wei Ying found himself stumbling out the door with Lan Zhan by his side. The cool night air hit him, but the alcohol still coursed through his veins, making him feel invincible. They hailed a cab and ended up at a nearby hotel, where the night took a turn neither had anticipated.

---

Wei Ying woke up the next morning with a pounding headache and a sense of disorientation. The unfamiliar room slowly came into focus, and he felt the warmth of another body beside him. Panic surged through him as he turned to see Lan Zhan still asleep, his face serene in the morning light.

Memories of the previous night flooded back—dancing, drinking, the feeling of Lan Zhan's hands on his skin. Wei Ying's heart raced as he realized what had happened. He needed to leave before Lan Zhan woke up. Silently, he slipped out of bed, gathered his clothes, and dressed as quickly as he could. He glanced back at Lan Zhan one last time, his emotions a whirlwind of confusion and regret, before slipping out of the room.

---

Wei Ying made his way back home, the events of the night replaying in his mind. He couldn't believe he'd been so reckless, especially given his recent health concerns. The thought of what Lan Zhan must think of him now made his stomach churn.

When he arrived home, Jiang Cheng was waiting, his expression a mix of worry and irritation.

"Where were you? We were all looking for you."

Wei Ying forced a smile, trying to act nonchalant.

"Just needed some air. Got a bit too drunk last night."

Jiang Cheng's eyes narrowed.

"You need to be more careful, Wei Ying. You know you can't afford to be reckless."

Wei Ying nodded, the weight of his actions settling heavily on his shoulders.

"I know, Cheng. I know."

---

The following days were a blur of routine and avoidance. Wei Ying threw himself into work, trying to forget the night with Lan Zhan, but the memory lingered, a constant reminder of his lapse in judgment. He avoided the places he might run into Lan Zhan, unsure of how to face him after what had happened.

Nie Huaisang, ever perceptive, noticed the change in Wei Ying's demeanor.

"Wei-ge, is everything okay? You seem... off."

Wei Ying forced a laugh.

"Just tired, Huaisang. Work's been hectic."

Nie Huaisang didn't seem convinced but didn't press the issue. Wei Ying was grateful for that. He wasn't ready to talk about what had happened, not even with his closest friends.

---

Weeks passed, and Wei Ying continued to avoid Lan Zhan, though their paths inevitably crossed from time to time. Each encounter was a reminder of that night, and Wei Ying couldn't shake the feeling of guilt that clung to him.

One evening, as he was leaving the office, he found Lan Zhan waiting outside. Wei Ying's heart skipped a beat, but he tried to appear calm.

"Lan Zhan," he greeted, his voice steady.

Lan Zhan's gaze was intense, his expression unreadable.

"Wei Ying, we need to talk."

Wei Ying swallowed hard, nodding.

"Okay."

They walked in silence to a nearby park, the air between them thick with unspoken words. Finally, Lan Zhan stopped and turned to face Wei Ying.

"What happened that night..."

Lan Zhan began, his voice steady but laced with emotion.

"It wasn't just a mistake, was it?"

Wei Ying felt a lump in his throat.

"Lan Zhan, I was drunk. I didn't mean for things to go that far."

Lan Zhan's eyes softened slightly.

"But they did. And now we need to figure out what it means."

Wei Ying took a deep breath, the weight of his actions pressing down on him.

"I don't know what to say, Lan Zhan. I don't know how to make this right."

Lan Zhan reached out, his hand resting on Wei Ying's shoulder.

"We don't have to figure it out right now. But we can't pretend it didn't happen. We need to be honest with each other."

Wei Ying nodded, the tension in his chest easing slightly.

"You're right. I'm sorry, Lan Zhan. I didn't mean to hurt you."

Lan Zhan's grip tightened slightly. "We'll find a way to move forward, Wei Ying. Together."

As they stood there in the quiet of the park, Wei Ying felt a glimmer of hope. Despite the uncertainty of their future, he knew one thing for sure: with Lan Zhan by his side, he could face whatever came next.
