Aurthur cousland

___________________________________________

It was a late morning in highever castle when,
Aurthur was just starting to wake up after a night of training, when he was summoned by his father, teyrn cousland of highever.

"My lord cousland, are you awake?" Asked one of the castles servants through his door.

"Yes, I'm awake. What do you need?" Aurthur asked groggily. he's was far from what you would call a "morning person."

"Teyrn cousland requires your presence in the throne room at once, my lord." The servant answered

Aurthur groans and gets ready, putting on a burgundy noble jacket, black trousers, and boots.

"Tell my father I'll be down shortly."

Aurthur walked in on his father Bryce cousland talking in the throne room, with a man he thought of as an uncle, arl Rendon Howe.

"Ah, there you are, pup. i was just telling howe about you and your brother." Bryce said, patting Aurthur on the back.

"Howe this is my youngest Aurthur. you remember, right?" Bryce said with faux concern.

"Of course I do, and I see he has grown into a fine young man. Pleased to see you again, lad." Arl Howe said with a grin.

"And you, arl Howe. Is your family here?" Aurthur replied

"No, but my daughter Delilah asked after you. Perhaps I should bring her next time."

"Arl Howe! Delilah is quite a bit younger than I am, and I have no interest in an arranged marriage." Aurthur said with shock, evident in his voice

"Ha, as you get older, those years make less difference. A lesson often hard won." Howe said with a chuckle.

"I doubt Aurthur agrees with that sentiment, Howe. My boy has a stubborn streak that could rival my own, maker bless his heart." teyrn cousland said with weariness.

"a stubbornness to match his skill at arms. Well done, your lordship," Howe said with a grin.

"Pup, back to matters at hand. While your brother and I head to ostagar to assist the king against the blight, I'm leaving you in charge of the castle." Bryce said with a tone that Aurthur thought best not to argue with.

"I'll do my best, father. Kill some darkspawn for me."

"Now, that's what I like to hear. Only a token force is remaining here, and you must keep the peace in the region. You know what they say about mice when the cat is away, yes? There's another person you must meet. Guardsman, please... show duncan in."

The guard saluted and then opened the door. A man entered wearing silverite armor, with blue gambison underneath, that had a griffin emblem on the chest. his skin was caramel colored and he had a hawk shaped nose, salt, and pepper hair tied in a pony tail with a beard.

"It is an honor to be a guest within your hall, teyrn cousland." The man spoke with a somber accent that Aurthur guessed he was rivaini.

"Your lordship, you didn't mention a grey warden showing up today." Howe spoke.

"Warden commander duncan arrived today unannounced. Will that be a problem, howe?"

"Of course not, but a guest of this stature demands certain protocol. I am... unprepared," howe said with a slight stutter at the start.
