Chapter 74

The physical education class was over in ten minutes, and there were many people hiding from the rain under the convenience store.

Xue Yu held the bottle of hot drink in his hand. Unlike others who tilted their heads back to drink, he carefully held the long tube in his mouth and sucked slowly, looking gentle and quiet.

Several boys standing next to him pretended to play around for a while, and then someone started it, his eyes suddenly turned to the little guy. Looking at his red lips holding the straw, he started asking questions without any reason, not knowing who he was.

Ask him if he has ever used his hands to hoe the land and what crops are planted at home.

Xue Yu flinched and trembled his fingers, obviously nervous about being approached by a stranger. He was stunned and tried to make amends for his unreasonable behavior: "Don't get me wrong, I'm curious. After all, I seldom go to the countryside."

But the explanation didn't make it any better, he still don't understand.

There are many students whose parents have made it big in small places and have risen from humble beginnings to attend high school in Wen City, but he seems to be only interested in Xue Yu and pays special attention to him.

Xue Yu was also kindhearted. His vigilance came quickly and went away even faster. His eyelashes trembled slowly, and he answered whatever others asked.

"No, I don't know how to do it. Grandpa is the one who does it..."

"The fields are planted with wheat and corn..."

Lu Dou was close, so even if he didn't listen, he heard the whole thing. As the saying goes, even a clay man has a temper. This little bumpkin is no match for a clay man. He didn't get angry even when he was dragged back and forth and asked about trivial matters.

He endured it for a while, his finger bones tensed more and more, and he grabbed Xue Yu's wrist uncontrollably: "If someone asks you about your household registration, do you have to tell them everything?"

Seeing Xue Yu blinking his eyes and looking at him, Lu Dou suddenly loosened his grip on his wrist, his Adam's apple moved, and he spoke as usual.

"Let's go."

The boy's grip was so strong that he didn't realize it. Even though he had tried to hold back a bit, his wrist felt sore and numb. Xue Yu glanced at him and followed him in small steps. He said softly, "Lu Dou, can you be a little less forceful when you touch me next time? I'll listen to you."

The water bottle in his palm was suddenly squeezed down. Lu Dou's heart beat twice too fast. He tried his best to control his expression and corrected himself in a hoarse voice: "...It's grabbing."

The little country bumpkin had not received a regular education. Not only had he not seen or heard of many things, he was always prone to misunderstanding small details in his choice of words.

Xue Yu nodded hesitantly, his face full of emotion and confusion, as if he didn't understand the difference between the two. However, he didn't ask any more questions. He wiped the water off his lips, avoided the potholes on the ground, and whispered, "I can't have dinner with you this afternoon. I have to meet a friend."

"Friend?"

"Um."

What kind of friends are so important that he can't even eat with him?

Lu Dou flattened his lips: "You don't have to tell me everything."

"I'm eating with you simply because I need to eat as well and we just happen to be on the same way, so we're going together. Now that you've learned how to use your meal card, you can go by yourself in the future."
