We all gather at Ski's house, ready for a chill evening.

"Yo, Ski, you got any snacks?" Nahmir calls out as he flops down on the couch.

"Yeah, help yourself, they're in the pantry," Ski replies from the kitchen.

Isabela and Raielle sit on the floor, gossiping.

That's a little weird. You were just acting jealous when Isabela and I were laughing together.

It's whatever, though.

Meanwhile, Jah and I lounge on the bean bags, talking about whatever comes to mind.

"I still can't believe you pulled that stunt with your mom earlier." he laughs, nudging me with his elbow.

"Yeah, well, desperate times call for desperate measures," I shrug.

He blows air through his nose, clearly amused by my predicament.

As we laugh, the doorbell rings, signaling that someone else is here.

Ski opens the door to reveal Reeko, Mir's homeboy, my current ex, who walks in with a grin on his face.

This is Nahmir's doing; I just know it.

"What's good, everybody?" Reeko greets, his voice booming as he enters the house.

He looks over at me for a second or two.

"Yo, glad you could make it," Ski says, dapping him up.

Reeko returns the gesture before turning his attention to the rest of us.

Nahmir tosses Reeko a bag of chips and he catches it effortlessly.

As the night goes on, we all just hang out.

We play video games, watch movies, and swap stories about our wildest adventures.

At one point, Rai insists we play truth or dare.

"Hmm, truth or dare, Jah?" Isabela asks.

"Truth, yall niggas weird."

"Pussy," Raielle mumbles.

Jah, catching her remark, narrows his eyes and shoots back at her.

"Girl shut the fuck up. I'm pussy because I chose truth?" he asks, not yelling but not talking regularly.

The sudden shift in tone draws a hush over the room as everyone turns to look at Jah.

Raielle's smile disappears, her playful attitude replaced by a hint of regret.
