Prelude To Gov. Casey?

Breaking news on News 12: The Atlantic City Expressway is currently shut down at Exit 41 due to an accident involving New Jersey Governor Chris Dunn, his wife, and two others.

The party was returning from a memorial service at Stockton University for the late Lt. Governor Wilson Michaels when their GMC Acadia was struck by a school bus that lost control. The other passengers have been identified as New Jersey Attorney General Trey France current Lt. Governor Casey Pattinson. All individuals were promptly transported to the hospital; however, their conditions have not yet been disclosed. Continue to follow News 12 for updates as they become available.

Rob's POV

I'm just getting in the house when Katie pulls into the driveway. "Dad, you need to get to Camden," she tells me.

"What happened?

"Mom and Trey were in an accident with Chris and Bellamy. They're on their way to Cooper. Chris called me saying he and Bellamy had minor injuries and he's on his way to Cooper right now where Mom and Trey are undergoing surgery."

"Are they?"

"He just heard they're both alive and in stable condition." 

"I have to go get Michael."

"Okay, what about Gracie?"

"She's in the studio. Text John-Michael and tell him what's going on."

"Okay, I'll rush over to the studio to get Gracie. Just go grab Michael and get to Camden."

I rush into the house to get a few things and see Jalen pulling into the driveway. "I just heard about Aunt Casey," he says.

"I'm heading to Camden."

"Get in."

"I'll be fine."

"Not today, Uncle Rob. I'm driving."

"Jalen, I'm fine."

But Jalen won't let me get away with it and uses the running joke between us which is how we make jokes about how he retired as a lieutenant colonel in the Army. "Uncle Rob, get in this Jeep right now...that's an order!"

I play along with it, salute him and say loudly, "SIR, YES SIR!"

"At ease," he says with a laugh. "Do we need to get Michael?"

"I was about to." 

We go to pick up Michael who is already freaked out. "Mom has to be okay," he tells me.

"She's going to be fine," I assure him. "Gov. Dunn called your sister and said your mum and Trey are alive and heading to the hospital for surgery."

"I've been telling him that this whole time," someone says to me.

I look up and I see Jesse. "You would know how Casey is."

"She's a tough one. As soon as I heard the news alert, I knew you would be here to get Michael. How's Casey?"

"Chris called Katie personally and said she's in stable condition and is about to undergo surgery at Cooper."

"You know, she was always one of my favorite professors when I was at Rider. It's why I took Michael under my wing when I first met him. Even now, I still look out for Michael because I always feel like I owe it to Casey."

"Not for anything, Jesse, you are also her brother-in-law now."

"You have to remind me. I'll let Rory know how her sister is since I know she'll want to drive to Camden later."
