For example, in this story, Mark is falling in love with Gems, but Gems is unaware of these feelings Mark has for them. Mark wants Gems to love him back, but since Gems is not aware of Mark's feelings or does not reciprocate them, Mark's love is unrequited.

Unrequited love can be incredibly painful and complicated for the person experiencing it, as they must navigate their strong feelings while also dealing with the reality that their love will not be fulfilled in the way they want. It can also be awkward and tense if the other person is somehow made aware of these unrequited feelings.

However, unrequited love can also serve as an opportunity for personal growth, self-reflection, and learning to love oneself.
