Evie stood at the sidelines of the stage while the band played the gig. It was something she did every night, but tonight her purpose was different. Tonight she was keeping an eye out for young women in the audience. They were doing two nights in Long Beach before a two week break. Some part of her was nervous about doing this so close to their hometown, but she convinced herself she was being irrational. Chances are, nobody would find out. If Vince could keep girlfriends in three different parts of the country without them finding out about each other, she and Nikki could invite a fan back to the hotel without it making the news.
A girl near the center of the second row piqued Evie's interest. She was maybe 5'3 with dark brown hair teased up and held in place by plenty of hairspray. She was wearing an Ozzy Osbourne shirt but was obviously a Motley fan because she was dancing and singing along. Evie pinned her at around 19 or 20.
There was another girl, a few rows back on Nikki's side, with curly blonde hair, a Led Zeppelin crop top, and more jewelry on her body than Evie had in her entire jewelry box. The girl was a little tipsy and was with another friend, a brunette who was more drunk. Evie wondered whether the drunk friend could occupy herself with Tommy or Vince for the night. Four was too much, she learned last time.
It was time for Mick's guitar solo, giving Nikki the time he needed to find Evie.
"What do you think of that one?" He pointed into the crowd. Evie tried to follow his finger. "Front row. The one in blue next to the guy with the long hair."
Evie saw her now. She was very pretty, her straight blonde hair going to her shoulders. She had on a baby blue crop top with a black skirt that ended at her thighs. Seemingly out of place for a metal concert, but perfect for grabbing the attention of the guys in the band. "She's cute," Evie said.
"She knows every word. I threw her a pick and she flashed me."
"Invite her backstage." Evie showed him the other two girls she was looking at. They wanted multiple in case their first choice wasn't open to another woman in the room.
After a long, long time, Motley's set ended. Evie's heart raced as she cleared the stage. She couldn't help but glance over at the girls. She'd approach the one in blue first, the brunette second, and the blonde pair third. Evie was in full view of the crowd now. She wondered if any of them noticed her.
Evie's stomach did flips as she changed out of her t-shirt and work pants into a crop top, ripped jeans, a necklace, and high heels. The typical Motley protocol for picking up girls was for Fred to approach them. He'd seek them out in the audience, tell them x member wanted to meet them, and offer them a backstage pass. Any girl who went to a Motley Crue concert knew that this invitation had more implications than just 'meeting' the band.
Evie didn't want it done that way. She wanted to meet the girl first, talk to her, and make sure she understood she wouldn't have Nikki all to herself. Plus, she didn't necessarily want an additional roadie knowing what they were doing. Maybe eventually, but not now.
