Living in Your New Found Death

When you 'died' and left me behind
And your comforting presence left my broken self
I had to get better, thrive from the other side
In your lack of value to others, I found wealth

When I had no self love, no confort, no pride
I would always try to stay by your side
In your loving, comforting presence, I would abide
While you were gone, at first, I cried

As the days where you weren't there left me alone,
My injuries I fixed myself, stitch by stitch
To survive, I had to turn my heart into stone
And remind myself that I'm not a worthless bitch

We were outcasts from the start,
We never fit in right
We both shared one mind, one goal, one heart
Everyone thought we were all bark and no bite

The bigger people smoke and watch us as they sit
They wait for us all, the doors remaining jammed
They watch all us children but treat us two like shit
And they're all trying to say that we're damned

When I left, it was as if you'd died
It was like our friendship came to a finish
It doesn't matter how many times we would hide
From the world we couldn't distinguish

When you 'died', I gave it my all to survive
My broken heart is beating out of my chest
Now I'm stuck in a sea of... emotions, guess I'll learn how to dive
But while you were around, I know you were doing your best
