Tones' POV :
I sat down next to my mother as she held my hand lightly. Her usually soft skin felt chapped and dried out. Whenever she gets overwhelmed or stressed, she washes her hands over and over.

" [Talk to me] " I speak, trying to break the ice.

" [Last night, your father got angry because another employer rejected his application. He started throwing things and raising his voice at me] " my mom explained. Her breathing was shaky and tears were slowly trickling down her face.

I felt so many emotions at once. I was mad at my dad...sad for my mom...guilty for ditching Nick.

God. Everything was falling apart

Nick's POV

When I was finally ready to see my brothers, I suddenly remembered something.
Luke.

He was close with Tones, and maybe close enough to know what happened. I feel bad for digging around when I was told not to; but I just need to know if I can help somehow. Halfway down the stairs I stop and whip my phone out of my pocket.

"Morning Nick, how are you feeling?" Matt spoke quietly. He honestly scared the shit out of me, I thought he would be in his room still.

"I'm fine. Just texting, hold on" I replied, still punching the keys on my phone.

Matt continued walking, ending up in the kitchen and opening the fridge quietly. He grabbed a lemonade and tried his best to open it with as little noise possible. Chris was still sleeping, so he wanted to be considerate. It's typically the other way around, though.

I finished my message and sent it to Luke. He opened it almost right away.

Nick 💛 : hey, have you talked to tones?

Luke 💪🏼 : Yeah, why

Nick 💛 : he ran out on me. there's stuff going on at home and im worried about him

Luke 💪🏼 : Dw, he texted me late last night and he's okay.

Nick let out a sigh of relief.

Tones was okay.
