Maud knew that something was up with Carl.

The way he bounced from his Father to Michonne, she soon figured out the beautiful woman's name was, to her and Wren as though he was yoyoing himself around even when they all stood in a small huddle.

There seemed to be an urgency in the air the way Tyreese had offered to carry Wren when Maud had started to lag behind.

Maud let him, knowing that Wren would cry for her if she truly needed anything.

This seemed to settle Carl's jumpiness as Tyreese was in their sights just in front of them.

Maud shook her hair, allowing it to fall down in a puff around her face, hiding her eyes.

Maud hadn't gotten a chance to put her hair up after having been hastily woken up by Carl handing a crying Wren to her chest.

They had woken early before the sun broke.

Maud was regretting resisting sleep the night before.

It took Maud giving Carl a hard look under her afro for him to spill what was on his mind.

"Why are we running?"

Even when Carl couldn't see Maud's eye on him, he felt them.

Maud asked, having felt for some time that the group was panicking Abraham, marching them all into exhaustion.

"Bad guys" Carl answered like this was some comic book, and as long as they kept going, a hero would come sweeping in to save them.

Maud accepted it, as it was more than Carol would give her for an answer.

Picking up her speed.

"The statistics on teen pregnancy-"

It was Eugene.

Again.

Maud didn't know if she wanted to hit him or kill the man.

Some form of violence, though, was what she wanted to inflict upon him.

Everyone else seemed to get the memo that Wren was off limits to do anything more than cue at and hold no one dared to talk about the unspoken taboo.

Even if the shifty look in all their eyes made Maud very aware that they had questions.

Opinions.

That she chose not to care about.

Everyone except Eugene, even when he was nudged by Rosita.

"Shut up" Maud settled to say instead, not looking at Eugene.

Eugene turned away from Maud with a blank look on his face.

Rosita slapped him on the chest, not hard, just enough to know he had said something out of line.

"Don't worry about him. He just likes to hear himself talk" Rosita said as she caught up with Maud.
