BAANI'S P.O.V
Yesterday, when I rolled back from the bakery, Nanu was waiting outside, sitting on his favorite chair. My car's headlights shone right on his face, and quick as lightning, he jumped up and swung open the gate as soon as I pulled in. Grabbing a couple of grocery bags, we made our way inside.
After stashing away the groceries, Nanu folded his arms, saying, "Spill it all, don't leave out a single detail."
I spotted Nani coming down the stairs, all smiles as she settled into her spot at the dining table. Nanu parked himself next to her, leaving me standing there, ready to share the wildest story of my day.
I chuckled, seeing them so focused, like my tale was going to change their lives. So, I started recounting everything: my trip to the bakery, meeting the kind lady, and helping her. Once I wrapped it up, Nanu took it upon himself to give me a thorough once-over, jokingly rolling me around like you'd rotate a dish in a microwave. Nani just giggled at his antics. "You alright, sweetheart? Did you get hurt? Any bruises?"
"Oh, Nanu, I'm totally fine. It was that lady who twisted her wrist, not me. No need to worry."
"As you were yapping about her, I noticed you didn't drop her name even once. Did you forget to ask, Baani?" Nani teased me gently.
"Shoot, totally slipped my mind! Talked to her for an hour, and I still don't know her name!"
I facepalmed at my own forgetfulness. Wish I'd asked, 'cause she was different, you know? Not weird, just... different in a good way.
Nanu gave my shoulder a reassuring squeeze. "Don't sweat it, kiddo. If the universe wants you two to cross paths again, you will. Now, scoot upstairs, freshen up, and join us for dinner."
"Got it, Nanu! I'll be quick as a flash. Just a shower, and I'll be down." I grinned, giving him a hug before sprinting upstairs.
"Slow down, Baani! No need to race up those stairs; you'll hurt yourself," Nani's voice echoed after me, a mix of amusement and concern.
Yesterday was just one of those unexpectedly awesome days. It turned out to be one of the best days of my life because I met someone super sweet and kind-hearted. After my usual morning routine, I plopped down on the couch in the living room and turned on the TV to watch some shows because, honestly, I was bored out of my mind. My grandparents had left early in the morning, saying they had some super important meeting and would be back by dinner. So, I had the whole day to myself.
I started flipping through channels, trying to find something interesting. You know how it is - hundreds of channels, and nothing good to watch. Suddenly, my fingers froze on the remote when I landed on a news channel. And oh my god, what I saw there shocked me to my core. The headline was screaming about my awful aunt! Can you believe it? There she was, on national TV, being exposed for fooling thousands of customers and having illegal connections to generate black money for her greedy self. I didn't know whether to be shocked or ecstatic. It was like a dream come true! I mean, who wouldn't want to see a villain get their comeuppance?
Part of me wanted to jump up and down with joy. I'd love to know who the hell exposed her crap. Seriously, I'd find that person and give them the tightest hug ever, then shower them with praise for the rest of my life. They totally deserve it.
Watching the screen, I could hardly believe my eyes. It was so satisfying to see her bodyguards struggling to protect her from the swarm of reporters and the angry public. People were trying to throw junk at her, and oh god, she deserved every bit of it. I was practically yelling at the TV, "Aim for her face, people! Come on, give her what she deserves!" If I'd been there, I'm sure my shot would've landed right on target.
