Hawkins was always a sleepy town. It missed out on the rock n' roll phase of the '60s and '70s, there were no popular celebrities from there. It was the sort of place where you grow old smelling slightly of cat urine without too much of a fright. That is until Will Byers disappears and everything turns upside down.
