Waking up, I felt a gentle sensation beneath me, something unfamiliar after weeks. Sunlight streamed in, illuminating Jace's flawless complexion. Her beauty was undeniable, from her long lashes to her perfectly arched eyebrows. Despite the attention she received, Jace remained humble, never letting it get to her head.

Jace scolded me for staring, playfully pushing my head away. I couldn't help but laugh at her antics as she tried to get comfortable in bed. Sitting up, she stretched her arms out."Stop staring, Enza," she said, turning to face me with a smirk. Feeling embarrassed, I covered my head with the blanket.

Jace chuckled and got up to use the bathroom. While she was gone, I took a look around her room, which I hadn't visited in a long time. On her nightstand, I noticed an army folder. Curious, I opened it and looked through the papers. It took me a moment to realize what I was seeing, until I spotted the words "ship date." Jace was joining the army in a few months, and she hadn't told me. Was she planning to leave without saying anything?
I had been meaning to discuss that with you." Jace appeared hesitant as she stood by the bathroom door. I knew she wouldn't just walk away without saying anything; our relationship meant more than that, or so I believed. I got out of bed and headed to the bathroom to brush my teeth.

Normally, I left the door open, but this time I needed some space to gather my thoughts. It wasn't that I was upset about Jace joining the Army; in fact, I was proud of her for starting a new chapter in her life. I just never expected her to leave me so soon.

"I wanted to tell you, Enza. So much has happened, and I ended up getting locked up. I couldn't see you, but please know that I'm not leaving you behind. I care about you too much for that. Once I finish bootcamp, I want you to come live with me. We can start fresh in a different state, surrounded by new people. You can finish high school in peace, and most importantly, you'll be safe, Enza." Jace's words echoed through the door.

You should have informed me the day you signed the papers. Now, I have to endure 4 months without seeing you. I pouted as I opened the door and glanced at Jace. She seemed relieved, then smiled.

"We can have phone calls every Sunday and be pen pals. I know how much you enjoy writing," Jace said, smiling at me. She truly understood me; I did love to write, and my dream was to become an author one day and share my story. Jace embraced me, running her finger through my hair. In her arms, my mind was calm, and I trusted her completely.

" Guess what? It's time to eat." I groaned she didn't even let me guess anything. That's not how the game works. She pulled me along downstairs and into the kitchen and started rummaging through her cabinets .

"So I got cereal, oatmeal, hot pockets....." Jace rambled as she kept going on and on.

"Some cereal will be okay Jacey." I cut off her rambling bringing her attention to me. She pulled out some Frosted Flakes and bowls for us to use. She fixed both of our bowls before sliding me the more emptier one. I ate my cereal in silence happy to finally have touch my belly. I damn near forgot what food tasted like Ive been starved for so long. I finished my bowl rather quickly gaining Jaces attention.

"You want some more baby?" Jace questioned. I nodded my head yes and she slid the box over to me allowing me to get more cereal. We finished up our breakfast in silence and just stared at each other from across the island. It was a peaceful silence I actually enjoyed it.

"Im proud of you, you ate two bowls of cereal. Hopefully I can get you to start eating 3 meals a day. Don't worry they can be small and I won't force you." Jace said while walking over to me. I nodded my head at her as I played with the bottom of her shirt.

"Im working on convincing your mom to let you stay with me, and that way it's easier when I come back from basic training." I looked at Jace and let out a deep breath.

"Good luck I-i don't think she will do it." I had no faith in my parents on ever wanting to let me be happy. I was terrified of them and just wanted to stay with Jace forever.

Jace examined the bruises on my neck and inspected my body. She lifted my shirt to check my stomach, noticing the dark bruises that stood out against my skin tone."I'll be fine, don't stress," I assured her. She planted a quick kiss on my lips, but I wanted more. Pulling her back in, our kiss intensified and became more passionate. I tugged at her shirt, causing her to break away.

"Not yet. I saw the bruises on your thighs, I know someone touched you down there. I want you to be healed and in the right headspace before we do anything like that, okay?" I loved the way Jace expressed her emotions for me. In a sure way that I understood what she meant. I smiled at her before a yawn took over my body. Even tho I slept all day yesterday I was still tired, my body was extremely overworked.

"Go lay down, I'll come up in a second." Jace ushered me up the stairs.
