Chapter 19

Y/N POV

I flipped the plantains in the pan as I chewed on a piece of turkey bacon

I took out the plantains and put them on a piece of hand towel before adding them to my sandwich with mayonnaise

Don't knock it till you try it

"Y/N, you yuh up so early?" I turned to see grandma in her nightie coming in, "I was craving that plantain, oh and I was dreaming of that mango in the fridge," I smiled as I bit into my sandwich

She shook her head at me as she eyed me, "what?" I asked, "you know, your mother was in Jamaica when she found out she was pregnant with you," she admitted as she walked to the fridge

"Yeah, daddy said she would only eat bacon and plantain sandwiches all the time, oh and those mangoes from around the road," I smiled turning to her as I chewed and she raised a brow

I stopped chewing as realization hit
I suddenly looked down at my belly then at her

"Don't blame you baby, I'd climb that man like a tree if I were you," she chuckled, patting my belly before walking off

No way

I took up my sandwich and mango and walked upstairs to my room, tiptoeing past Toji and went out to the balcony

"What are you doing?" I heard him making the mango drop out of my mouth and roll as he chuckled

He got out and walked over to me, looking down at the plate in my hand

"Interesting choice," he admitted, biting piece as I frowned and watched him take up my mango and lead me through the doors

We sat down and I hugged my legs for a bit before looking at him

"We said 100% transparency no matter what right?" I asked making him look at me, "what's the matter? I can hear your heart," he confessed, coming closer to me as I rubbed my head

"I think I'm pregnant," I looked up at him and saw a glimmer in his eyes but he quickly straightened his face

"Oh, how do you know?" He questioned, coming closer, "I was speculating for a while, my pants haven't been buttoning the same and I've been nauseous," I said looking at him

"Then grandma said these are the same cravings my mom had," just shrugged as he held my hands

It was 3am and the light pole far on the beach was our only source of light

"And what if you are? I'm okay with your having another abortion, I know these last few weeks have been taxing on you," I reassured

"I'd keep it," I confessed, "life's too short, and I couldn't think of any better time than now," I smiled as I saw the blush on his cheeks

"Come on," he held my hand and we walked to the bathroom and he sat me on the toilet as he rummaged through my bag

"What are you-" "here it is," he pulled out a pregnancy test box

Okay, creep much

"Toji that might be expired baby," I chuckled nervously as he opened it and brought it over, "good for another 3 months," he said taking off the cap

"You don't have to do this," he bent down in front of me, "I want to," I whispered, making him kiss me before standing up and handing me the test before he turned around

I slid off my shorts and placed the stick between my legs as I peed then put the cap on and laid it on the counter, making him turn

I finished my business and I pulled up my shorts. He sat on the toilet and sat me in his lap, his arms around my belly as we stared at the clock on my Apple Watch charging
