"I remember them clearly, the days leading up to the one that changed our lives...he does to.."

I opened my eyes slightly as I heard the birds outside, I could feel the sun shining through my window and on my bed....what day was it..?

I sit up and take a look at my calendar before almost squealing with joy! I could hardly believe that after days, month, YEARS- ok, ok, maybe not years, but thats how it felt to 8 year old Me.

My brother had planned a special trip to the orchestra that week and I. Was. Ecstatic! I scrambled outta bed, grabbed my "bestest" dress out of my closet and layer it out onto my bed before turning and running out the room to wake me brother, my fluffy grey tail swishing behind me.

I was a smart kid, it didn't take long to find out I was adopted, but I wasn't really mad, I mean, who could be when I had the best big bro of all times??

I ran to his room as fast as my tiny legs would let me. I opened his door, climbed up his bed and shook him as I tried to wake him up.

"Wake up, Ollie'! We gotta go to da orchestra today!"

My brother would stir a bit before sitting up patting my head with one of his extra arms, his ears still floppy from just waking up.

"Heh, I'm up, I'm up 'Nya. How about you go get ready while I make breakfast?"

"Ok!"

I would then scramble down and head for the bathroom to get ready, deciding for probably the first time in my tiny life that a extra comfy bubble bath would take to long. I turned the shower on and started getting ready while my brother headed downstairs.

My brother was holding up surprisingly well after our parents death. They were in An accident while they were out and the next day, their death was all over the newspaper. Everyone mourned their death, mum and dad being known by the whole village because of their friendliness.

If only we knew what was in store for us...

After I finished getting ready, I put on My favorite violet dress. It had light blue stripes on the top part that went well with it. I looked in the mirror and smiled before heading downstairs where breakfast was waiting on the table.

My brother was sitting at the table as he waited for me. I sat in my seat across from him and we ate.

The food was delicious, as always. My brother used to be the best cook ever. I remember that I wanted him to teach me how to cook as well, but he would always say I was still a bit too young, calling me "pip squeak", my nickname.

...

"How i miss those good old days..."

...

We had gotten all ready to leave. Me in my favorite purple and blue dress while my brother wore his suite with dress shoes.

We left our little cabin and walked along the path towards the village....I couldn't help but get the feeling that someone was watching us through the trees of the woods that surrounded our cabin. I don't know why, but I had always gotten that feeling around them. Mum and dad and my brother would assure me that it was nothing, just a fox wandering off, but I was smarter than that. Whatever was watching us felt...more sentient, like one of the other villagers perhaps.

But whenever I turned around to check, I didn't see anyone...
