(A/N: my first time writing something horror, forgive me for the mistakes it might have! this is inspired by the story my dad once told me a year or so ago, and the story he told was a little inspired by one of the shinchan episodes)

The fluorescent lights hummed overhead, casting an eerie glow on the classroom. Chan, Felix, and Han huddled together, whispers flitting between them like nervous butterflies. Principal Jeongin's announcement about a mandatory sleepover had sent a shiver down Chan's spine. The school was shrouded in whispers of strange occurrences, and the prospect of spending the night only fueled his fear.

"Sleepover, huh?" Felix nudged him, his voice barely a murmur. "Sounds fun, right?"

Han, ever the pragmatist, scoffed. "Fun? More like a recipe for disaster." His eyes darted around the room, searching for any sign of escape.

Lee Know, their ever-reliable homeroom teacher, entered the room, a clipboard clutched in his hand. "Alright, everyone settle down! Tonight's a special occasion, so we're having a sleepover!"

A collective groan erupted from the class. Lee Know chuckled, a hint of amusement in his eyes. "Don't worry, it won't be all work and no play. We'll have games, movies – the whole shebang!"

As Lee Know began assigning rooms, Chan's stomach tightened. "Please, Lee Know, anywhere but with Hyunjin," he pleaded under his breath.

Felix snickered. "Come on, Chan. It'll be an adventure!"

"Yeah," Han chimed in, his voice dripping with sarcasm, "an olfactory adventure."

Their pleas fell on deaf ears. "Bang Chan, Lee Felix, Hwang Hyunjin, and Han Jisung," Lee Know announced, his voice echoing in the silent classroom, "Room 3C. Don't be late."

Disappointment washed over them as they trudged towards their designated room. Hyunjin was already sprawled on a cot, fast asleep – or so it seemed. What sent a jolt through them were the stairs in the corner. Stairs that definitely weren't there before.

"Woah, what's that?" Felix gasped, his eyes wide with wonder.

"Stairs?" Han deadpanned. "Looks like someone's been playing Minecraft in their sleep."

Chan, however, wasn't convinced. "Those weren't there before," he mumbled, a sense of unease creeping into his voice.

They brushed it off as a forgotten detail, exhaustion finally winning over fear. As they drifted off to sleep, a faint rumble from Hyunjin's cot served as a lullaby.

Felix needing to use the bathroom, was too afraid to go by himself.

"Hey, han," Felix whispered, nudging his friend. "Gotta go, but..." he trailed off, his voice laced with fear.

"Yeah," han mumbled, still half asleep. "But the bathroom's..."

Han, his face pale, spoke up. "I'll come with you. There's strength in numbers, right?"

"Right," Felix agreed, a hint of doubt lingering in his voice.

The two of them stumbled out of their beds, the silence broken only by the rhythmic hum of the fluorescent lights. As they fumbled for the light switch, a new detail snagged their attention. The stairs, bathed in an ominous red glow, seemed different. Fear, cold and sharp, pricked them.

"Did those stairs... change color and direction?" Han squeaked, his voice barely a whisper.

They nudged Chan awake. "Chan," Felix hissed. "Look at the stairs!"

Chan's eyes flew open, and a gasp escaped his lips. The once upward stairs now plunged downwards. Curiosity, tinged with apprehension, urged them on.

"Should we... check it out?" Felix asked, his voice barely audible.
