After a chaotic week of auditions, the cast for Gaelan's play is finally set and ready to begin rehearsals. With only three months to prepare, the pressure is intense for everyone involved. Gaelan, however, is confident in his abilities and believes he can pull it off. Little does he know, his nightmare is about to begin, all because of one specific person who happens to be in the lead role. Gaelan hopes everything will go according to plan, as this play is his last chance to be recognized as a director and producer, fulfilling his lifelong dream.
GAELAN'S POV:
We've been meticulously planning everything needed for this play, from the scripts and scenes to the music and setups. The room is constantly buzzing with the sound of people moving from place to place, scene to scene. A week ago, we had our first script reading with the actors, and now we are officially starting our rehearsal sessions. Everything seemed to be going well until someone started complaining about almost everything. Fyo, the lead actor, demands nothing but perfection, especially in the scenes that need adjustments. Though his complaints seem to come out of nowhere, I think he might be right about certain things.
"What do you want this time, Fyo? We've already changed so many things in just one act. What could possibly be wrong now?" I asked, my patience wearing thin and feeling tempted to just walk out of this damn stadium.
This time, Fyo wants to change the locker room scene where some of the teammates are showering while others are changing clothes. Instead of just looking from the doorway, where his character is standing, he suggested being in the middle of the room, surrounded by his teammates. This change, he argues, would make his character feel more confused and triggered about his identity. He wants the audience to truly understand and feel the dilemma of being closeted in front of his all-male baseball teammates.
"I mean, this could give the exact scenario of me being in the middle of these men, sir! I believe it would be more convincing for the audience, making it feel more real," Fyo explains further. "It could stir up a genuine reaction from me and reduce the stereotype of being perceived as a pervert if a man looks at another man shirtless or naked. This change could help us come across as more decent, sir."
I thought about it for a minute, and yes, he was absolutely right. This change would make the scene more decent and likely avoid any issues with management. "Okay, fine. I'll allow it, but you have to show it to us first. If it's better than the original scene, then we'll change it. Are you up for it?" I challenged him.
"Fantastic! I will! Just watch and get ready to be moved, Mr. Newell." He dared me fiercely.
As he began the scene, I watched with curiosity, eager to see how he would execute it. While the action unfolded on stage, my attention was drawn to Fyo. He seemed completely immersed in the role, already positioned in the middle of his teammates. His eyes, both dazzling and filled with fear, darted around the room, showing the struggle he faced in containing himself among half-naked men. He closed his eyes briefly, biting his lip softly, his breathing heavy, drowning out all other sounds except the pounding of his heart.
