Chapter 5: The Kiss

It had been a few weeks since I had told my brother and Angie all about the self harm that I'd been doing shortly after finally breaking up with my ex Vanessa a while ago.

I had noticed a small change in how I was acting recently, I'd felt a little more relaxed and less on edge.

That was until I had noticed that I was in the same room as Madelyn who still managed to make me feel nervous.
I still don't get it with her, what is her deal ?
Even though my brother keeps telling me that she really does like me, I can't shake that thought that she is just messing with me.

I had just finished a shift at the auto shop and I was now at home and before I was about to head upstairs for a shower, I received at text from my brother, Charlie.

Charlie: hey bro, how've you been lately ?

Jakob: better than I've been in the past but still could be better, why ?

Charlie: well I was just checking in on you.

Jakob: why do I get the feeling that's not all you wanted to ask me ?

Charlie: not much gets past you eh ? Alright, since you ask, I was wondering if you would like to come and hang out with me, ash and our friends tomorrow ?

Jakob: what are you guys going to be doing tomorrow ?

Charlie: well we'll be doing a few things but the last thing we'll be doing is we'll all be coming to my place to hang out because I want to do a barbecue with my friends.

To my own surprise and my brother's, I quickly agreed

Jakob: yeah okay, I'll be come and hang out with you guys, if you don't mind.

Charlie: wait... really ? You're absolutely sure ?

Jakob: yeah.

Charlie: well damn bro, I wasn't expecting so quick of an answer.

Jakob: why's that ?

Charlie: well let's face it mate, you've not been so enthusiastic about social interaction, I mean you had your reasons of course but still.

Jakob: yeah I know, it's been a strange few weeks.

Charlie: what do you mean ?

Jakob: I just mean that I've noticed a little bit of a change within myself.

Charlie: what do you mean ? Socially ?

Jakob: I think so, I'm not too sure.

Charlie: ah well in any case, it's a start mate and I'm proud of you.

Jakob: thanks.

Charlie: have you just come home from the auto shop ?

Jakob: yeah, I'm going to have a shower in a little bit.

Charlie: okay, well in that case I'll let you go and have your shower, get some sleep and I'll see you tomorrow.

Jakob: yeah, see you tomorrow.

After texting my brother, I went upstairs and had my shower and then I went to bed to get some sleep.

The next day.......

It was late in the morning and I had just finished getting ready and I had just put the last of the clothes that I had picked out which was a longsleeve shirt along with some shorts and some sneakers.
