Later that day, Lena's friends, James Olsen and Andrea Rojas, were waiting for her in the main square. They started to come up with theories as to why their friend was late,

"I bet five ducats that she fell off of her horse again because she and Lex were racing." James laughed, thinking back to a previous horse race that Lena had sorely lost against her brother.

"I bet five ducats that she's busy, talking to a new lady friend." Andrea smirked.

Lena came running up behind them, not two minutes later, her horse parked a few paces behind her,

"Andrea! James! I have the most wonderful news!" Lena was beaming as she reached her friends, "I'm in love!" She panted, trying to catch her breath.

"Well, well, well." Andrea smirked at James, who was already pulling out his ducat pouch, "You're always in love, Lena dearest. Who might it be this time?" She joked.

Lena rolled her eyes playfully, "I really mean it this time. I have found the one! She's beautiful and sweet, she is the one, who will make me happy until the end of my days!"

"And who might this 'one' be?" Andrea laughed.

"Her name is-"

"Luthor!" Lena was interrupted by a voice behind her.

She turned around to see Kara's sister, Alex drawing her sword.

"You entered the House of El, without permission. Now you must pay for your insolence." Alex smirked.

Lena wasn't surprised that Alex was reacting this way after seeing her with her sister at the party but she also knew that fighting Alex would hurt Kara and she couldn't bear the thought of hurting Kara,

"No. I will not fight you, Alex. It would be like fighting a family member. I will not."

"Coward. You're all cowards. All you Luthors ever do it talk. Members of the House of El, we are true to our word. We don't make empty promises. We fight and settle our differences, no matter what the law says. We are soldiers with honour!" Alex laughed.

"Lena? Are you just going to let her insult your family?" James asked, dumbfounded.

"I cannot fight her. I have no choice." Lena said, her voice stone cold, showing her defiance.

"You might not be willing to stand up for yourself but I am." James drew his own sword and turned to Alex, "If it is a fight that you seek, then I am your man."

Alex shrugged her shoulders, getting ready to stand her ground against him. She leapt forward at James, slashing her sword at him. James parried well, fending her off. Lena and Andrea stood a few paces away, worried because they both knew that Alex was an exceptional fighter,

"We can't let him do this. It's suicide!" Andrea said to Lena, visibly concerned.

"We need to stop this." Lena agreed.

Alex started to back him back into the corner where Lena and Andrea were standing, gaining the upper hand. Lena took the opportunity of how close they were to each other and grabbed James by the arm,

"James, you can't do this! This is madness!" She tried to reason with him.

"Lena, let go of me!" He tried to struggle against her grip.

Suddenly, Alex charged at him and ran her sword through his torso, the blade going clean through. Blood started to pool out of James's chest as Alex pulled her sword back out. James cried out as he fell to his knees. He clutched his chest as blood started to drip from the corner of his mouth as it filled his lungs. He grabbed the hem of Lena's tunic. Lena crouched down next to him as he fell onto his stomach,
