The next morning, it was already bright. Birds were chirping on the branches outside the window. The bright spring light shone into the house through the window, adding a few rays of warmth.
Jiang Ningbao was still a little dazed when she woke up, but as soon as she heard the sounds outside, she became fully awake. She quickly tied up her hair with a hair tie, put on her coat, and got out of bed. She had had insomnia the previous night and didn't fall into a deep sleep until midnight.
"The rain finally stopped."
Jiang Ningbao looked at the spring light coming in from outside and felt in a good mood. It was a beautiful day, and she could ask her eldest brother to go shopping with her.
Chun Xi and Chun Le heard the commotion inside, and Chun Xi immediately walked in carrying toiletries.
"Miss, you're finally awake. The Third Young Master is waiting for you to have breakfast."
Chun Xi placed the copper basin on the low shelf and quickly went over to make the bed.
"Chun Xi, when did my brother arrive?"
Jiang Ningbao asked while washing up.
"The Third Young Master arrived at dawn."
"So early?"
Jiang Ningbao was surprised. Her eldest brother had traveled all day yesterday to return home, and now he had gotten up so early. How could his body handle it? She decided to go to the wine cellar to get some jars of health-preserving medicinal wine to help her brother.
"Miss, the Third Young Master was thinking about the wine you made. He came here early this morning and took two small jars of wine from the cellar to drink in the pavilion outside."
After making the bed, Chun Xi walked over to Jiang Ningbao and covered her mouth with a smile.
Jiang Ningbao: "..."
After washing up, Jiang Ningbao put on an apricot-colored dress, combed her hair into a simple bun, and inserted a hairpin inlaid with rubies into her hair. She added a few beaded flowers and tied a pair of ring-shaped pendants around her waist. When she moved, the pendants jingled pleasantly.
Looking at the delicate and beautiful woman in the bronze mirror, Jiang Ningbao thought for a moment, then took out two ruby bracelets from the jewelry box and put them on her fair wrists before walking out of the room.
"Chun Xi, let's go. We shouldn't keep my brother waiting."
Chun Xi was always amazed by the girl's simple yet elegant outfits. Indeed, she was beautiful with a good temperament, and she was pleasing to the eye no matter how she dressed.
.........
The west courtyard of Changning Mansion is quite large. An exquisite octagonal pavilion sits in the courtyard. In her spare time, Jiang Ningbao enjoys the scenery from the pavilion. However, since Chun Xi is the only servant in the courtyard, she has not visited the pavilion for a long time.
In the pavilion, a handsome man in blue robes sat with two servants standing behind him. He was enjoying a glass of wine, and the late spring sun cast a golden glow on him, as if he were covered in light yellow gold.
Seeing a beautiful woman walking nearby, the man in blue robes—Jiang Ningbao's eldest brother, Jiang Jin—displayed a gentle smile.
Last night, Jiang Jin had asked the servant some questions about his sister, and only then did he realize the extent of the troubles she had caused during his absence. Much of what had happened with Ningbao was not mentioned in the letters they exchanged.
