today's our long-awaited first datethe clock above the bar ticked as if to mock aventurine. he drummed his fingers against the polished countertop, a nervous tic betraying his usually cool composure. this was it. the first date. the moment he'd both anticipated and dreaded with equal measure. this particular day kept him awake, more nights than aventurine is willing to admit.
he'd spent the last few weeks meticulously planning every detail, from popular places couples usually go to topics he can ease you into in order to not make things awkward. yet, as the minutes ticked by, doubt gnawed at him. was this a wise decision? was he risking too much by letting himself get close to you, to someone who is willing to know the broken parts that make him not aventurine, but kakavasha?
he took a long sip of his drink, the bitter taste of cheap liqour mirroring the turmoil within him. perhaps he should just leave you, make you a fool for waiting for a good-for-nothing, call it a night before things got too complicated. genuine love was something he was sure he didn’t deserve.
but then you walked in, and all thoughts of retreat vanished.
a radiant smile lit up your face as you scanned the bar, your eyes sparkling with anticipation. you wore something simple, its vibrant colors a stark contrast to the dimly lit surroundings. a strand of hair had escaped your carefully styled hair, framing your face in a way that made his breath catch in his throat.
aventurine rose to his feet, a sense of anticipation replacing the doubt that had plagued him moments before. how could someone so radiant, so full of life, be drawn to him? and he gulped because—fuck! "you, uhh…look..nice?" he said, the words tumbling out before he could stop them, as awkward as it is.
you let out a laugh that made aventurine swoon, as if he hadn’t just thought of running away like a coward.
the rest of the evening passed in a blur of laughter, stolen glances, and accidental brushes of your hands. and as the night drew to a close, he knew he was in trouble. he had fallen for you, hard. but instead of fear, he felt a strange sense of exhilaration.
how long it would last, aventurine didn’t want to think about it for now. just you.
