Like a grey shadow lurking in the light, unwavering eyes. She stared at him, and he ventures forth into the edge of the night; with a silent foot she scouts the lake's rim. She scents the boy waiting for her. Her savage eyeballs are a flare, seen but unheard beasts living in their lair, to wrangle a meal; of bones ill-covered and patches of fur missing. Sets forth to steal, to whisk away the boy that once thought of monsters plagued by illness, and of women dressed prettily. Never of the opposite; of girls dressed in plague, and of boys dressed handsomely with rich status quo.
