「 ✦ two. as in not dead ✦ 」

penny tried to stop from rambling nervously as the car cruised down a rather empty street. unfortunately, her efforts were unsuccessful and she was soon red in the face after being told that she should 'try her best not to speak' by an annoyed tim. "so" he began, looking over to her for a split second as he drove the shop further along "why do you want to be a cop?" he asked, trying to sound merely curious.

penelope sighed quietly, not wanting to go into her reasons and knowing that tim definitely didn't want to hear it "i thought i wasn't supposed to speak" she tried as an excuse.

"you want me to train you, i need to know why you're in this car" he spoke, not taking his eyes off the road as he fought against the urge to take another glance. penelope was a little stranger than he was used to in a rookie.

"i-i want to do something good in my life" she admitted, figuring it sounded stereotypical and hopefully close enough to a blueprint answer so that she would be asked to expand. when tim said nothing in reply, penelope began spouting more nonsense "i've sorta done everything i ever wanted to do" she expanded, eyes widening when the car suddenly slammed to a stop, tim turning to her quickly.

"i've been shot!" he announced without warning, taking his hands off the wheel and staring at her expectantly. penny's face immediately contorted into a puzzled expression. she wasn't sure what game officer bradford was playing at or what exactly he was testing but she knew it was probably stupid and unnecessary. "where are you, doc?!" he yelled again, looking and sounding angrier.

"you're not- oh, this is a test" she realised, her shoulders dropping as a smile appeared on her face. she loved tests.

tim sighed once more, annoyed at the refusal penny had to take part in his test. he was expecting a more frazzled reaction and wasn't liking whatever she was doing. he assumed it was to buy time. "yes, it is. now the question is..." he began, the situation much calmer now that he knew penny was aware of the test "where are we?" he enunciated each word clearly, fed up with her already.

"right" she nodded with a grin "weddington street near bakman avenue" penny answered with no problems.

"hmm" he studied her blank face for a moment before placing his hands back on the wheel, rhythmically tapping his fingers against it in boredom "you still took too long" he decided, shrugging when she looked at him in shock "now i'm dead. it's your fault. get out"

"excuse me?" she blinked, more so concerned over 'failing' than tim blaming her for his metaphorical death.

"get out and walk. you can get back in when you come to realisation that you've killed me"

penelope huffed to herself, taking her seat belt off, opening the door, and getting out of the car reluctantly. she began walking alongside it as tim drove slowly to match her pace. "at least if you were dead i would be able to sit in the car" she mumbled lowly.

she didn't understand how on earth she wasn't stumbling over her words and on the brink of passing out considering tim's overall personality and attitude towards her. usually she would've been in tears but she couldn't bring herself to be anything but mildly annoyed.

tim, on the other hand, was unreasonably annoyed at penelope. he didn't have a reason for his behaviour either but penny really struck a nerve. wether it was her 'know it all' attitude or quiet slights towards him, he didn't know. but she was definitely eliciting a response from him unlike any other rookie he'd had.
