The past two days have been marked by an unbroken radio silence, whether she was sitting at home, hoping for someone to spontaneously fill her day, or trying to spark that need herself. On the first day, she had arrived with delusions of efficiency, but after yearning so deeply for peace and tranquility, her own mistakes led to a spiral of self-doubt and melancholy that she struggled to put into words.

*BEEP BEEP* Y/N sleepily slapped her hand on the snooze button of her alarm clock, but the beeping continued. Frustrated and still groggy, she hurled the clock across the room, yanking the cord out and knocking several items off her nightstand. The alarm clock shattered against the wall, creating yet another mess for her to clean up.

"FUCK!" she screamed at the room. The thought of how her parents would have berated and yelled at her back home only fueled her anger further.

She lay still in bed, dreading the thought of getting up. Reluctantly, she reached for her phone and texted Giyuu, "Be ready at 8. Link Day starts at 9." Placing her phone back on the nightstand, she threw the covers off herself and prepared to get up.

She met Giyuu outside, her purse in hand, ready to go to school. "Good morning, Giyuu," she said.

"Good morning. You ready for Link Day?" he said, opening the backseat door with the same monotone voice he'd persisted in the past few days.

Y/N stepped into the car and tossed her purse on the seat, hoping Giyuu wouldn't notice the anger simmering beneath her surface. "Ready as I'll ever be."

He glanced in the rear view mirror before pulling out of the long driveway. "How do you feel about joining the student council after having a few days to think it over?"

"I feel like I'll be the first freshman president. Easy feat." she boasted. Her confidence stemmed from years of ordering around the help, though she'd eventually come to see them as human beings too.
