August 18, 07:15

Y/N walked out of the classroom, pulling out her schedule again.

' Math with... Sharpe.'

Yet again, a cheery smile greeted her in the hallway. "What's your next class? I'll walk you there." Shinobu greeted her merrily.

"Math with Sharpe," A gentle sigh escapes from her mouth, "Room 32."

She smiles, "Wonderful!" Shinobu interlocks arms with her, "We should be on our way now."

A brief nod is given, "You are a second year right?" She asks.

"Yes I am a sophomore."

Y/N ponders for a moment, "Earlier you said that you took higher level classes than the people in your grade. Why is that?"

She chuckles, "Well the summer before my freshman year, I took a class to be junior level math, then this year I'm taking senior level math. You could call it AP calculus."

"Wow. I didn't expect all that. But next year, there is going to be no higher level of math, so what are you going to do then?" She inquires, with curiosity in her eyes.

She keeps up a polite smile, "Next year I'm going to take AP statistics, then senior year I'm going to do dual-enrollment with the local college."

"Do you mind explaining what dual-enrollment is?"

She pauses, "It's when you are in high-school, you take a college level class and you get credits for college graduation."

' I know why my parents were imperative about me meeting her.'

Y/N nodded, absorbing the information, "That sounds impressive. I never thought about taking college-level classes while still in high school."

Shinobu's smile widened, and she gave a small laugh, "It's not too bad once you get the hang of it. Besides, it gives me a head start for college."

They continued down the hallway, the classroom doors lined up like milestones as they walked. Eventually, they stopped in front of Room 32.

"Have fun, Ms. Sharpe is nice if you don't get on her nerves. Which I doubt that you will." She smiled and walked away swiftly.

After she walked into the class, she immediately noticed that in the projector, there was a paper showing a seating chart. The groups were separated by 4 desks per group and there is 6 groups evenly distributed throughout the classroom. Skimming through the seats, she finally found her seat on the right side of the class.

Y/N took a deep breath and made her way to her assigned seat, setting her bag down beside the desk. As she sat down, her three desk-mates slowly trickled in before the bell rung.

*BUUUEEEEEPPPP*

One girl with a side ponytail and a butterfly hair clip pinning it in place, another boy whom she had recognized, and a third timid one. "Hey you're the girl from the cafe." The blonde one said first.

"Oh hey Y/N, I didn't know that he had any classes together."

Y/N blinked, her thoughts coming to a halt as her eyes were drawn to the girl sitting across from her. She couldn't help but take in the details—the way her sleek black hair framed her face, the subtle contrast of her plain grey top against the playful polka-dotted undershirt peeking out beneath it. There was an effortless simplicity in the way she dressed, yet the polished look of her white Converse and the crispness of her outfit made her stand out.

There was something about her presence that caught Y/N off guard. The girl exuded a quiet confidence, a kind of calm energy that made Y/N hesitate. She realized the group had already started talking again, but her attention kept drifting back to the girl.

' Please don't notice me mysterious girl. Actually do but don't catch me staring. Wait maybe do.'

Coming back to reality Y/N said a worrisome, "Yep." And nodded, trying to get caught staring.

Tanjiro spoke up once again, "So Y/N, you've met Zenitsu from the cafe."

Zenitsu added, "I also was her delivery driver. And you wanna know something Tanjiro?" He pauses and looks at his friend accusingly, "She was hanging out with Tengen and Kyojurou!"

          "So." He pauses.

Zenitsu is shocked at his lack of understanding, "Tengen shouldn't be hanging out with her!"

"Why is it so bad that I was hanging out with Tengen? And you don't even know the full story." Inculpates Y/N.

Zenitsu sighed and tried to calm down, "He is a freak."

' How would you know this. Stop judging me I'm not a bed-laying whore.'

"That doesn't matter. Neither of us were trying to do anything. And he was only there to assemble my furniture." She gave him a "kill-yourself" look.

Tanjiro chuckled awkwardly, "Ok so um, this is Kanao." He waved towards the butterfly-clip girl.

Once again, Y/N felt a sudden jolt, as if time had slowed down for just a moment. A gust of wind blew in from the open door, sending a light breeze through the room. It danced through her hair, lifting the strands ever so slightly, and in that fleeting second, the light from the window caught her lavender eyes, making them shimmer with an almost ethereal glow.

Kanao smiles briefly and says, "Hi."

Before they could start a conversation, Ms. Sharpe walked briskly into the room, her presence immediately commanding attention. She began speaking about the agenda for the day, her voice clear and efficient. Y/N, still slightly dazed from the strange moment, found herself slipping into autopilot. She unfocused her eyes and stared at the board, the words Ms. Sharpe said fading into the background as her mind wandered.

It wasn't long before she had got the papers and passed them out to the people at her table. The rest of the class was spent doing icebreakers that Y/N didn't pay attention to.

*BUUUEEEEEPPPP*

Y/N rushed all her papers in her folder and started into the hallway where she was met by a voluntary tour guide, Shinobu.
