Craig POV

I wake up by the bell in 5 in the morning. My eyes get blinded by the sun, and the sun is barely coming up. then I hear my mom yelling from downstairs to get up

Laura: "Craig! wake up! you're gonna be late for work!"

I hate work. what I have to do is to work at a farm and make paths through the plants for the water to hydrate the plants and then after work it's school.

My name is craig tucker. My father divorced my mom, so now my mother has to take care of me and my little sister.

I'm living in a small town in the Wild West. But this wasn't the life that I wanted. The towns mayor is very nice, but when he leaves the town to go do his work, the town then turns cruel and unsafe.

I hated the town and the rules of it. At school, it was much worse. If you get an answer wrong in class, the teachers get to punish the student, which isn't nice.

And kids at ages 7 have to work until they are at their 50. it's a cruel world where i live, but I have nothing to do to stop it.

Craig: "I'm up!"

I then said as he was getting out of bed. I was annoyed by my mom as I started to get dressed for work

I then get downstairs in my white button shirt with brown baggy pants and his black boots. And then i see my mom and my sister eating a toast. My mom then sides eyes me and then turns her whole body to look at me.

Laura: "You're wearing that? You know after work you have to go to school."

Craig: "What's wrong with it? It's not that bad..."

I said in my low voice. I was not very happy about going to school.

Laura: "You wore that yesterday and the day before yesterday. People will think we're poor and that we can't afford anything. I don't want people coming knocking on my front porch and giving me food."

Craig: "They'll do that anyway."

Imumbled as I sat down on a chair at the table.

Trica: "And you still look ugly."

Craig: "Oh shut it, red head."

Trica: "At least I don't have crooked teeth."

Mom: "Enough you two!"

We then stopped as my mom turned back to making breakfast

My mom then placed an avocado toast in front of me.

Laura: "After you're done eating, can you go in the backyard and feed the chickens?"

Craig: "Do I have to?"

I whined out as I looked at my mom

Laura: "Oh, I'm sorry. Who's idea was it to take a chicken home and take care of it?"

Craig: "Well, mine, but that was when I was 5!"

Laura: "And now that chicken is a grown chicken that lays eggs. So yes, you must feed them."

She said in a very firm and stern voice. It was her way of saying "no arguing"

I hated it when my mom talked like that. I then let out a sigh before responding.

Craig: "Fine. I'll feed the dumb chicken."

Laura: "You named that chicken carrot."

Craig: "Exactly. It's a dumb name for a dumb chicken."
