CHAPTER 12 - DRESSES AND TIES AND EVEN THOSE STUPID MASKS

"OH MY GOODNESS!" ELLE yells so loudly I'm sure the neighbors from three houses down can hear. "You look hot! Ashton's going to swoon over you," she adds as she looks at me.

We were all ready in our dresses (and suit). Apparently we did take three hours to get ready, but I believe it's because we kept chasing each other, messing up our makeup and running down the street like a crazy woman. Thank Kayla for that, when Elle was doing Kaylas makeup and put on some pink eyeshadow on her. Kayla left my house and ran down the street yelling, "GET IT OFF ME!" We had to chase her and bring her back. My friends are crazy.

I stood up on my bed and looked at myself in my mirror. A pretty girl stared back at me with makeup that made my brown eyes pop. And even my hair looked nice, it was up in a slicked back ponytail, slightly curled. It was very me, not too much, but perfect. And it even allowed for the open back of my dress to show.

Elle did her makeup in metallic colors that matched her pink dress, saying her date was wearing a grey/silver suit. Kayla was wearing red and black colors to match her bold outfit. Anthony was popping in his bordeaux suit that kind of matched my lip color. I painted his nails black to match his black beanie that, with all of Elle's efforts, he refused to take off. He claimed that he wanted to look good but still himself at the same time. It's Anthony's date that will swoon.

"The guys will get here soon, any last touches?" Elle asks, holding a makeup brush in the air. Kayla runs to her, saying that she looked, and I quote, "like an Albino squirrel!" which after a quick google search meant that she looked too pale (she couldn't just say that? Insert excessive eye roll)

We put our respective masquerade masks, for Elle a bright pink one with nice decorations and feathers, Kayla a simple black fierce one for her overall look. Ant got a dark red crimson with a fancy design to match his suit, as for me, I got a black one to match my heels and Ashton. We all looked nice and I couldn't wait for the guys to get here (again, preferably Ashton).

As everyone was arranging their hair and clothes I took pictures. It's these moments like this that I loved to capture.

"Oh you girls look amazing!" my mom exclaimed from my door. Ant cleared his throat loudly and my mom looked alarmed, "girls and boy, look amazing."

My mom got her shift to start a little later tonight so she could take pictures and see me go off to my homecoming dance.

There's a sudden knock on my front door, probably our dates. My mom squeals along with Elle and runs downstairs to greet them.

Elle turns to us with a serious look on her face, "we have to make a grand entrance as we swiftly walk down the stairs," she says poetically. "I'll go down first, then Kayla, then Anthony, and finally Tessa because this is probably the first dance she's been to"—ouch—"sounds good?"

We all nod in response as my mom calls us downstairs.

I hear Elles squealing from the bottom of the stairs, she's going to the dance with her sweet/nerdy boyfriend which she adores. Then I hear a guy curse (a couple profanities, sorry mom) as Kayla makes her way down the stairs, she came with Mark, Ashtons friend. I'm sure he's the one who yelled and gave her a loud wolf whistle.

Before Anthony goes I stop him and hug him tightly, "I love you, Ant"

"I love you, too, Tessa," he responds.

I suddenly get a quick flashback to the conversation we had not too many hours ago.

"You know, I'm glad you're going to this dance with Ashton." Ant says. "He seems to have redeemed himself, though if he messes up I won't hesitate to break into his house and cut his—"
