Chapter Six: Manik

"I miss you manik" she looked right at me in the eye while holding my hand. "Do things really have to be this way between us?"

I came to Kiara's house to pick up a file for Ahaan which is forgot, it wasn't important but when Nandini opened the door it felt like I just wanted to be around her. I could've came back or ahaan could've picked it up tomorrow but something inside me just made me want to be close to her which I hated because I should be staying far away from her.

I gulp looking at her, my other hand goes to our hands holding as I take her hand of mine.

There's no us anymore" she was taken back by my words. Her hands slowly fell by her side.

"That's not true." she whispers and looks down. "We just need to talk to each other—talk things out"

"Talk about what?"

"Our differences our misunderstandings, give me a chance to explain maybe you'll understand" she tells me.

"We are way past that" I look away shaking my head.

"Because you didn't let me, you completely shut the doors on me that day and never opened" she moves little closer to me.

"Things are this way between you and I is because of you Nandini." I tell her. "It was your choice then to lie and hide things from me, if you genuinely cared for Aarav and you weren't selfish then you wouldn't have done that"

She gets up from the couch looking at me with a hurt look on her face. "Selfish? How could you say that? I cared and loved Aarav as much as you did, but it felt like the right choice then"

"Your so called right choice killed my little brother Nandini!" my jaw clenches as I shout startling her.

"If I knew at any point that it would lead to that, I would've never ever done that." She says looking down in guilt and I could see the tears forming in her eyes.

"It hurts that you think I didn't care for him. If it was in my control or if I could go change things I wouldn't have let anything happen to Aarav, I would've died to protect him" she looks at me.

My heart physically pained and the guilt took over me.

"Nandini I'm rea—oh manik" we hear kiara coming downstairs and she notices me. "What are you doing here?"

"Ahaan forgot some document, I'm just here to get them" I tell her.

"What does it look like?" She asks me.

"A blue file with confidential written on it" I tell her.

"I'll go check" she says and then goes upstairs to his home office.

I look at Nandini who just stared down at the floor and didn't say anything or even move.

Kiara comes down holding the document and she hands it over to me.

"Thanks" I thank her grabbing the document from her hand.

It seems that both of them were going out somewhere together but I wondered where. I definitely wasn't going to ask Nandini and if I ask kiara she will know I'm asking for Nandini.
