———————————————————————-"Looks like a fracture on your left hand" The doctor told me
Once my adrenaline rush went down I realized that I really hurt my hand when I smashed it into a wall. I pulled out my keys and drove to the team's doctors, while there he called my coach over to see what I've done.
"Okay.... Does that mean I can still play?" I asked
He turns to take an extra look at the x-ray before giving me and the coach a nod.
"You can play but you have to be careful about it" He said while gathering some papers "You have to have a cast on it for a couple of weeks and then you should be good to go"
The doctor then leaves to gather some medical supplies for my cast, Coach David saw me with my face in a mix of anger and frustration.
We stayed quiet until the doctor arrived with his supplies and started to work on my fractured hand.
"The hell were you thinking? Slamming your hand into a wall like that?" He asked, I sighed
"I'm tired of feeling like a failure, the only thing I've done since coming here is fail and fail. The comments that Pulisic made didn't help so I needed to let it out"
"You think this is the way to do it? By injuring yourself? You're way more valuable on the pitch, not in the medical room"
"You don't think I know that! I've got you, the press, the fanbase, and of all things Christian fucking Pulisic breathing down my fucking neck! I don't need some substitute telling me how bad I am after he has one game!" I yelled in frustration
"All set, just be careful and don't overdo it" The doctor told me
I flexed my fingers, wincing slightly but I felt a new sense of resolve. I hopped off the table and started to leave but was stopped when my coach put a hand on my shoulder.
"Listen Y/N, I don't doubt your abilities. We've all seen what you can do but you can't do this every time you get a little pressure"
I shrugged his hand off of my shoulder and continued to walk out of the room.
"I'll show you, I'll show everyone just how good I am" I said as I left the room
Coach David looked watched at me as I left with a thoughtful expression on his face, he turned to the team's doctor.
"This is what he needs, hopefully he can turn it into something positive"
The doctor nodded at his words before both leaving the room.
