Minji's POV:

It's been a week since I joined the student committee, and I already want to quit. For real, these people here are not humans. I may sound crazy or like I'm overreacting, but it's the truth. Why do they have to complete their work, look out for school activities, attend boring meetings, and at the same time score well on exams, PLUS stay after school? It's like they thrive on torture.

Now I understand why my brother never used to play with me after school. This work is beyond exhausting. And FYI, as a good human being, I'm trying to help my brother with my work. You can't blame me—I am new, have ZERO experience with this, and am just here for my brother.

That reminds me that I have not had a single chance to talk to Haerin. Every time I see her, she's working, and if not, she's ignoring or avoiding me. I don't blame her, but can't she see that I'm trying to talk? Literally, whenever I try to approach her, she just walks the other way or pretends to talk to someone else. It makes me angry because now I look like a desperate fangirl.

It was probably the last class—yes, probably, because I don't even know the time. I entered the class, with students playing and messing around because the teacher wasn't here yet. Ahh, kids these days. I ignored them and saw haerin tidying up her desk. Since she was alone, I thought it was the best chance to approach. So, I did, and like always, she turned around pretending to talk to Danielle. Does she hate me that much? I was lost in thought but snapped out of it when I felt someone's hand on my shoulder.

"Hi, Min!" said Hanni, showing the brightest smile possible. Her energy was contagious, making me forget my frustration for a moment.

"Oh, hi, Han. What's up?" I replied. Suddenly, Hanni searched for something in her bag and waved two small papers, which looked like tickets, in front of my eyes.

"What is it?" I asked curiously.

"Tickets," she replied.

"Oh, really? I didn't know that," I said sarcastically.

"They're tickets for the arcade," she said happily, her eyes sparkling with excitement. It was kinda cute.

"Oh, nice then?" She looked at me like I was the dumbest person in the world. Why, though?

"Idiot, I have two tickets. So, do you want to come with me after school?" she asked, and I melted on the spot. Is Hanni asking me out on a DATE?? I mean, it's just the arcade, but still. Why does she even need to ask? I'm always ready to do anything with her.

"Okay—" but I was cut off by someone.

"NO," replied Haerin, her voice slicing through the air like a knife. WTH, why no? I'm going! Who asked her, and why is she even talking?

"I mean, Minji can't go with you because we have a Student Council meeting today after school," she said, staring at Hanni and then at me. And for some reason, that stare meant she wasn't going to hear a 'NO.'

"Oh, I didn't know that, Min. Now, what do I do with these tickets?" I turned around to see Hanni now frowning. Aww I could leave the student committee right now, like literally 'right now, right now, baby I don't care.'

"You can go with Danielle," said Haerin, pointing towards Dani, who was as red as a tomato.

"Huh, why?" I said out loud by mistake, and everyone looked at me while Haerin shot a glare at me.

"Uh, I mean—" but then the teacher entered the classroom, and everyone got back to their respective seats. Thank God. For the first time in my whole life, I was glad that the teacher came into the class.

I couldn't even focus on the class. Not that I ever do, but still. My mind kept drifting back to Hanni. She was so happy, and I ruined it. How terrible a person am I? I've apologized to her more than five times already. Even though she wasn’t mad, I still felt awful for letting her down.

After class, I suggested Hanni take Yunjin with her. She agreed, and I didn’t know why, but I didn’t want Dani to go with her.

Haerin's POV:

"Sorry again, Han," Minji said to Hanni, pouting sadly. Ugh, why does she always have to pout in front of her? She never does that with anyone else. And what's with that nickname, Han? Eww. Hanni isn't even a long name that needs a nickname. My name is longer; she should call me Hae or Rin or something.

"Are you okay, Haerin?" Dani asked. Why wouldn't I be okay?

"I'm fine," I replied flatly.

"Soo... Is Hanni going with me?" Dani asked nervously. Why does everyone want to go with her? I don’t mind Dani going with her, but why Minji too? I mean, Hanni can’t go out with two people at once. Minji can stay here and find someone else, right??

"I don't know, but I don't think so," I said, making Dani frown.

After what felt like an hour, Minji and Hanni finally finished talking. I saw Hanni approaching Minji for a hug. And I don't know what came over me but.....

Minji's POV:

I was about to hug Hanni when I felt someone grab my wrist and pull me back.

"The meeting will start soon, and it's not good manners to be late," Haerin said, forcing a smile.

Ugh, why does she always have to show up at the perfect time? God.

"Oh, okay, Min. You should go. Let’s hang out at my house this weekend. Bye!" Hanni said with a cute smile.

"Okay, bye," I replied. After Hanni left the classroom, I was lost in my own world, thinking it was a dream that I was going to hang out at her house. I’ve been there before, but always with the group, never alone.

"Stop smiling like a fool now," I snapped out of my thoughts while haerin dragging me to the student council office. Why does she always ruins my perfect moments...
