Journee's POV:

When I got to the club Briar was waiting outside for me. The dim light outside made her dark hair shine. I walk up to her.

"There you are bitch! Where were you?" She laughs and hugs me. I hug her back. She's always the best at giving hugs.

"Traffic. Where's Zane?" I ask as she leads me in. It was loud and hot, just like any other club I've been to.

"He already found a boy toy to play with. Anyway, wanna get some drinks?" She looks down at me, and I nod.

.....

Later into the night we're sitting at the bar. Briar was drunk out of her mind, and I was a little tipsy. Zane walks over.

"Hey girls, you good?" He says, sitting down next to me. Briar had her head on my shoulder and is mumbling nonsense.

"We're fine, what happened to the guy you were talking to?"

"Oh, unfortunately he's straight. I lucked out." He says and orders a shot.

The whole time I've known Zane he's had like 3 boyfriends, and everyone of them broke up with him for some reason or another. I have no idea why, he's super nice and attractive.

I look around the club and spot a guy eyeing me. He's you typical tall, dark and handsome, but I'm really not in the mood for anything.

So I audibly groan when he walks over.

He stands in front of me. "What's a pretty girl like you doing over here with some queers?" He says gestures to Zane who's flirting with the bartender, and Briar, who I guess taking the wrong guess at her leaning against me.

"They're my friends, that's why. What do you want?" I stare up at him, my arm tightening around Briar, and I heard her snore.

Shit, Briar this is not the time for you to be sleeping, especially in here.

"Well, maybe your name and number please?" He says with a smirk on his face.

Okay maybe I'm being a bit too hostile, but I have 2 days before my period and the cramps are killing me.

But he seems nice enough, so maybe I should give him a chance?

"My names Journee. Do you want my number for a date or something?" I say and let go of Briar, who just woke up and had drool coming out of her mouth. I open my purse and hand her a wet wipe.

You can never be too prepared for things, so I carry wet wipes, hand sanitizer, tissues, etc.

"Journee," he says, testing the name on his tongue. " I'm Max, and maybe, I wouldn't wanna pass up the opportunity to go on a date with a beautiful girl like you."

Flattery will get you no where bud, but maybe I could give him a chance.

"Saturday sound okay?" He speaks up again. I almost say yes, but then remember my plans with mom.

I can't cancel on her again.

"Um, what about Sunday? I'm busy on Saturday..." I say as Briar leans on me again.
