!!Authors Note!! THIS IS A REWRITE!! Okay so basically I completely fucked myself over by not thinking and planning ahead for future chapters and in order for the new chapter (chapter 10) to go how I want it to, I needed to change some things about who was where and when. Please don't be mad at me 😭😭 it's so hard having 3 different perspectives and bouncing from present day for some and going back in time with others.

Anyways!! Please enjoy it's definitely worth the read to understand the time of events later :) also, in a lot of ways I think this turned out better than the original version so hopefully it's worth it 🫶🩷

Abby

Saturday morning.

My eyes peel open, heart rate jumping significantly higher as my phone continued to roar on the nightstand, phone screen blinding me amongst the pitch dark backdrop of my room.

3:46 A.M.

I squinted at the screen as I held it up, pressing the green button, "Hello."

I hear some chatter in the background- frenzied, and drowned out conversations, and the person on the other end answering to unnamed someones before returning to me, breathing on the other line focusing in through the mouthpiece.

A rattle is evident in their throat, and words tipping on desperation, "Doc, we need you."

"I'll be there in 10."

I hung up, and tossed the phone onto the bed, grabbing a pair of nearby crumbled sweatpants to throw on.

My pace was quick as I walked down the hall, a backpack over my shoulder, and keys rattling in my wake before I paused.

The moon still high in the sky gave just enough visibility to see the vague outline of a person on the couch.
I took a few steps closer, confirming my suspicions.
It was Skyler, and by what I can see, I could tell she had a wild night. I doubt she even managed to get to the couch on her own nonetheless making it home in one piece without the help of someone else.

I can't do this. Not now.
She's a big girl and can make her own decisions and deal with the consequences on her own.

At least until I get back.

Sky

Sunday.

Head leaning over the mattress, and my hand gripping onto the nightstand to keep me from falling while acid continued to decay my teeth and insides.

It wasn't pretty, and if I hadn't felt this way before, I would've thought I was dying.

I lay back, and rested my head on the pillow, which felt a lot more like a concrete block.

"Maybe I should take you to the hospital." Abby said, wet washcloth in hand, pressing it against my forehead as she sat at my side, and only left to bring me something that she thought would fix me.

I groaned, "No, I'm fine" wincing as the room continued to spin in dark silhouettes behind my eyelids, "- just need to sleep it off s' all."

Sleep? Really? How fucking selfish.

Abby is the one who really needs sleep.

I feel her hand retract, along with the washcloth from my forehead, now rubbing it in slow circles across my chest.

"You haven't stopped since yesterday. You need an IV."

She's probably right, hell, she's a fucking doctor. I should listen to her, but still, she's spent enough time on me today as it is- helping me bathe, cooking me a list of things that she thought I'd be able to stomach, and been at my every beck and call.
I don't deserve her and I'm not just saying that.
I really, really don't deserve her, especially after how I acted with Ellie the other night, fully willing to give her a lap dance with the hopes of something more after.
