The sun was half way across the sky by the time I had opened my eyes for the first since the night before.

It was a good night, a long one. Abby stayed for another couple of hours, and you guessed it, they played video games the entire time, even insisted I took the place of one of them for a couple of rounds. Of course, I lost bad. Not even coming close to resembling any form of competition, but amongst their giggling at my lack of knowledge of the material, I couldn't get myself to be upset.

"God. You're terrible at this."

"Are you even trying?"

"Good thing you're pretty."

My lips spread into a lazy smile, and the light beams that flooded through contorted the sheets as I ran my hand across them, finding Ellie's hand.

Her fingers loosely wrapped around mine as her eyes flickered opened.

"Good morning." She says, voice thick and hoarse, like maybe last night was a little too much excitement for her to handle.
Funny how much she has slowed down in just 3 years, but if I'm honest, it's kinda scary to see how her decisions in life have already shown their effects so early on.

"Good morning, baby."

Her eyes opened a little wider, eyebrows raising in my direction, "Baby, huh? Wow."

I reached my arm out, laying it across her stomach and under her furtherest arm, getting in closer to her side, which she immediately reacts, wrapping her arm over my shoulder, and resting her chin on my head.

"Too soon?"

Looking up, I meet her eyes, the color of her cheeks starting to oversaturate.

"Not soon enough."

My head nods, not sure if it was in my head or if I actually did it, same way I heard the word "good" being said in my own voice.

Some silence is shared, and last nights memories fresh on repeat.
After Abby had left, well talked like really talked.
I explained the kiss, and Ellie seemed to understand, even admitted that it was something she had been waiting on, but wasn't ever sure she'd get it.
Some hypotheticals were expressed, mostly on Ellie's end. She shared some pretty big hypotheticals if I'm being honest, the kind that I thought were simply just that- hypothetically speaking, dreaming out loud etc.
She mentioned moving out of state, the west coast somewhere, and I know she only said that because I used to talk about all the time back in college.
And it's still true, I'd love to live on the coast and wake up knowing the beach is a few minutes drive from my front door, palm trees stretching so high you couldn't see the tops, but now, it felt as if I'd be impossible to get out of Texas.
Ellie talks about it as if it would be so easy- leaving everything behind, packing only what is irreplaceable and going, and maybe almost dying does that to a person, but for me, it only seems like a fairytale I would tell myself at the end of a very long shift to get me through the night.

A very loud, low grumble is heard, cutting through the silence, and caused a chuckle from Ellie, her hand reaching over to rest on my stomach, "Damn, are you hungry or are you about to shape shift?"

I peeked up at her, half-rolling my eyes to hide behind a smile, "Wanna stick around and find out?"

Our stomached were full on overpriced breakfast sandwiches, in addition to the coffee and tea that we still sipped on as we got back into Ellie's car.

I got in as Ellie did, still not used to the brown leather interior and the fancy, big screen on the center console. It was like night and day compared to my junkyard scrap, but I got in during a desperate time before the savings added up, plus not having a car payment always sounds inviting no matter how much money you have.
