Hold me tight but don't break me
Let me fly but not out of your sight
And he stopped and asked me, "Are you a bird or a tree?"
I sat confused and asked him, "What do you mean?"
He told me, "Trees need roots to grow taller, stronger. Birds need wings to make sure they're never caged."
And I opened my mouth to answer but no words came out
And I thought and thought
I wondered and pondered
Do I need roots, consistency
Or do I need wings to fly proud and free~
And so I told him, "I don't know."
He told me, "Take your time"
And to this day I wonder
Should I be consistent or free
Am I a bird
Or a tree
