The meeting with a few pack officials of the Silver Moon pack ended in the conference room and they all relaxed into their chairs. The formidable Alpha Ashton at the head of the table, the loyal Beta Caleb on his right, followed by the golden Emily Rudolf, the pack physician. On the Alpha's left was the serious Gamma Orion White, followed by the funny Delta Julian Rich.

Ashton nodded to them as he rose to his feet. They were dismissed.

“I would love to walk Emily back to the clinic, but that's if you have nothing pressing for me to do, Alpha." Caleb said.

Julian snickered, pretending to whisper to Orion, “Then they would tell us later there's nothing going on between them."

Emily rolled her lovely brown eyes, her golden brown curls bouncing as she turned to Julian. “We tell you that because it is the truth."

Caleb's phone started ringing as he wanted to speak also.
Julian still chipped in. “I just need our dear Beta to know that he's stupid if he lets things remain that way.
Orion jabbed him in his arm, “You know he is right here."
Julian just laughed.
The fun air switched to a tense one as Aunt Rosie burst in through the doors looking terribly worried. “Caleb!" Her voice was only a little louder than a whisper. Her phone was pressed to her ear and her body visibly trembled.

Caleb abandoned his incoming call and rushed to her.
Ashton glanced at Caleb's phone still ringing and saw it was Hawk, their man at the watchtower. Ashton swiped to the left and the phone silenced.

“What's the matter?" Caleb held his aunt who had been a mother to him for as long Ashton knew him.

Ashton, with his enhanced senses could hear another lady crying on the other end of the line.

“Your sister is missing." Aunt Rosie finally said and handed Caleb the phone.

Ashton, again with his special empathic powers, could feel Aunt Rosie's fear and pain. What could have happened? His wolf, Silo asked him from within, but Ashton was clueless too.

“Don't inform the police yet." Caleb said to the lady that called. “Maia, I will come over and find her." Caleb looked to Ashton for approval.

Ashton, of course, nodded his approval back.

The call ended and Caleb looked very troubled. “I will be on my way now."

“Your phone!" Julian reminded him as he handed Caleb the phone. “Do you need me to come with you?"

Caleb shook his head and hugged Aunt Rosie, assuring her before he bolted away.

Ashton's phone vibrated in his pocket, it was Hawk. “Yes, Hawk."

“My Alpha, we've got a serious problem." Hawk began. “At the graveyard close to the border. A hunter's after a wolf, possibly a rogue."

The report stirred anger in him. “But still a wolf, just like us!" Ashton growled. The human hunters were not keeping their end of the treaty. He had no patience left to extend to them. “Keep your eyes on them. I'm on my way." He jammed his phone into his pocket.

“Gamma, come with me now. Delta, meet us at the borderline graveyard with our copy of the treaty renewal with the Hunters' Union. Come with fresh clothes too, male and female. We're not sure which this wolf is." Ashton stormed out with Orion running closely behind. He rushed to his office and grabbed his pistol and his coat.

Ashton and Orion briskly walked out of the pack house into the woods. Orion shifted to his wolf form because he could not keep up with Ashton's great speed on his two human feet. Crest, Orion's wolf was a grey large wolf.
