A few days later...
Location - Downtown Area
Your POV
Within the amount of time I have been living in Japan, I was starting to get used to it. The scenery was quite a sight to behold, and a lot of the people are kind and friendly. It almost feels like everyone here is one big family, and I like it.
However, I haven't made any friends myself yet, but I have a feeling that is going to change soon enough.
It all started when I was exploring the downtown area. I have visited it already, but this time, I wanted to make sure I explore as much as I can. As I was walking around, something activated my sense of smell, and it looks like it was close by.
I start to follow the smell, and I see a butcher shop at the end of it.
This was quite a sight to behold. I had no idea that they would have Croquettes here in Japan. I think maybe I should go check it out, and see what else they have besides Croquettes.
"Come try out our Croquettes, fresh out of the fryer!"
Now I was hearing the voice of a person behind that counter, and I walked over to get a better look at them.
It was a girl with short orange hair and matching eyes. She definitely has a bright smile on her that definitely caught my attention. However, she saw me and got excited as she calls me over.
"Hey, you, come over here!"
I looked around before saying anything.
"Who, me?" I asked.
"Yeah, you! Come over here and buy a Croquette!"
I walked over, and spoke honestly with her.
"I'm sorry, but I really don't have any money on me." I said. Hopefully my Japanese was good enough for her to understand.
However, the girl let out a small frown.
"No money, huh? In that case, you can have mine." She said and handed it to me.
"Really? I can take it?" I asked.
"Yeah, of course!" She grinned. "I can always get another one since it is my family's shop."
Her family owes this place? Wow, I had no idea, and she gave me a Croquette for free? I guess I feel lucky today.
"Go ahead and take a bite!" The girl said with a twinkle in her eyes.
At her request, I took a bite of the Croquette, chewed and shallow it. As I did, my taste buds couldn't believe it. It was unlucky anything I have ever had back in America.
"Oh wow, this is so good!" I said as I stared at the Croquette in my hands. I think if I was anymore excited, my American side would most likely show itself.
"See? I knew you like it!" The girl said as she was grinning from ear to ear.
It was so good that I knew what I was going to say next.
"Next time I come back here, I'll make sure to have plenty of money." I said.
"That's fine! Come back anytime!"
She waved to me a goodbye, and I made sure to wave back to her before making my way home. I don't know what it is, but something about that girl's smile made my mood ten times better. I hope I see her again soon.
