"Maa... Maaa...." I scream to call my mother and sister. "Kanak... Maaa.. Kanak..."
Watching them hurrying towards me and guards carrying daata (dad), soaked in blood. Unconscious.
"Maithili... What happened to your father?"
"Maithili di..... (DI big sister)
Panik rushes to them in no time. "I'll tell you but, first let me treat Daata's wounds. He needs treatment right away. Kanak go bring the medicine box from my room. Maa, don't worry Daata will be alright. You go and get towel and warm water to clean his wounds."
Guards put Daata in bed. Still standing. "Anything else, my queen?"
Almost forgetting about the bargain i have just made for my life. Clenching my fist in anger. "Just go away.." saying bitterly. It's not their fault, Maithili. It's HIM. They are merely the servants. But my own conscience is not supporting anything. All i want is to just take care of my father.
"As you command, my queen." the guards left obediently.
Maa and Kanak came back with the necessities i asked for. Cleaning and treating father's wounds. I went to make a herbal potion for quick recovery.
"Here let me take this." Maa say with taking the bowl of herbal potion from my hands. "Kanak will feed it your father."
"No Maa.. I'll do it myself."
"Maithili... I was not asking. Come with me, right now." she is serious. I obey and follow her to my room.
We both sit on the bed. She start applying the medicine on my the scratches, i didn't noticed.
"Now tell me, what happen? Why is your father is in this state? Who did this,Maithili?"
"KING VEER PRATAP SINGH"
Bowl of medicine fell from Maa's hand. When i found her face. It is terrorized.
"He let your father go?" Her surprise to this is clear. "He didn't see you, did he? You are okay, right?" scanning me head to toe far any other injury. Her fear is not normal. There's guilt there! But, why?
"Don't worry Maa, I'm fine. And so will be Data. Forever."
"What do you mean by FOREVER?" her instinct kicked right in.
"I..uh...I.."
"What is it Maithili?" she yells, feared.
"I bargained myself for Daata's life to him." truth comes out, instinctively.
"WHAT!"
"I'm going to marry him. Three days from now."
Shocked. But more of fear.

By the afternoon, Daata regain his consciousness. It's the first time in my life. My house is dead silent. Feeding him more herbal medicine. First words Maa said to Daata are... "She is marrying him. Our daughter is going to marry that monster." The words she was holdin in from the moment. This is the first thing she said.
Same fear rushes to Daata's face too. "WHAT! NO.... Maithili you can't marry him. He'll destroy your life. I won't allow it." coughing.
I rubbed his back. When he make me sit by his side. "I know, you are doing it for me. But i have already lived my life. I won't regret dying now, my child. Don't destroy your life."
"NO.... I won't let anything happen to you. I don't care what we want. But if its the only way to save you and my family, I"LL DO IT!"
"He won't back down after marrying you. He wants to take his revenge by killing me."
"Revenge?"
Daata looking at Maa. Guilty. It's the first time I have seen this look on Daata's face. They are hiding something. But I won't ask them. If they want to tell me. They'll tell me themself. I won't force them to say anything which make them feel like this. Silence didn't break. I have my answers.
"Most important, I gave him my words. And you know it best Data, I don't go back on my words."
"But..." cutting him off. I continue.
"And he is no normal man. He is the king of rudrgadh. And he made it super clear, if i try to run away. He will still find me anyhow. There's no escape now."
No one agree to the facts, i just stated. "You should rest now, Daata. It's your daughter's wedding in three days. You must recover, before that." sadf, but I still tried my best to put a smile. Just when my eyes started getting blurred with coming tears. I left.
Alone and locked in my room. Kanak came and knocked few times. Asking for food and medicine but, i want none. All i want right now is just my solitude.
Thinking about everything since the last sunset, which changed my life and me forever. I drift to sleep.
