Declan set his phone down on the coffee table in front of him. He stared at it and then slowly glanced over to his suitcase. His movie actually did finish and he wanted to surprise Samantha. His plan was to call her to tell her the movie was delayed but then jump on the next plane to be with her.

He knew that he loved her and wanted to spend his life with her but was he ready for marriage? Was she? They never really talked about it. It seemed every time it came up in conversation they both found a way to dance around the subject.

Sitting on the couch, he was absorbing the conversation they just finished. Before the call he was so happy and contemplating if he should propose marriage or the idea of moving in together and in a flash he may just lose her all together. What was he thinking, telling her to talk to Brett? Telling her to take her time and he would wait. How could he just sit here and wait for the woman he loved to tell him that she picked someone else?

He leaned forward and picked his phone back up. He probably should call his Uber and tell them he didn't need it anymore. How could he make the trip now when he said he would give her space?

"You idiot." Declan mumbled to himself.

What if he did still go? He could sneak into town and grab a hotel room somewhere. She would not know and this way if she called him and said she wanted to be with him he could surprise her. He would be there already. But what if she called to break up with him?
"That's it," he said to himself as he stood up. "You love this girl and you're not giving up without saying your piece." And with that he grabbed his suitcase and headed out the door to wait for the car.

Brunch with her family went well on Sunday. Her mom, Caroline had invited a few of the extended family over as well. Samantha enjoyed the afternoon catching up with her aunts, uncles and cousins. She had forgotten what it felt like to be home enjoying big family events. She realized how much she really missed it.

Her family was amazing and always so supportive of career.  They always welcomed video calls from her when she called to see how they were doing.  Although their family was fairly large they were all very close.  Samantha knew that if she ever needed anything she could call any one of them and they would be there for her.  They were a great source in keeping her humble and not letting her head swell too much.

She left the house around 6:00 that evening to meet Natalie at the local pub. They ordered a few drinks and Natalie was telling her about some work gossip but Samantha had a hard time concentrating on the conversation. Her mind kept wandering back between Brett confessing his love to her and Declan saying she could have space.

"Hello, McFly." Natalie was waving her hand in front of Samantha's face. "You wanna tell me why you're spacing out."

"Sorry."

"What's going on with you tonight?"

Samantha brought Natalie up to speed about her conversation with Declan that morning. She had to fight back the tears that were welling up in her eyes.

"He said he would give you space?" Natalie looked confused, "Wait, don't tell me that you still have feelings for Brett? Are you thinking of getting back together with him."

"I don't know what I feel anymore. I know I feel confused. Everything seemed so simple a few days ago and now it all seems upside down. Like I don't know which path to take. I thought I was over Brett. I thought I was completely in love with Declan but now I'm not so sure. I just, I just don't know."

"I wish I could help and make the decisions for you but this is something you are going to have to figure out on your own. I am however here to always listen and try to give some sane advice."
