"You know, I would love to get to know the two of you a little more,' Kay said as she motioned Samantha's parents to the door. 'What do you say if I buy you a cup of coffee?"

"That sounds like a great idea." George replied.

The parents slipped out of the room to leave Declan and Samantha alone.

"Well that was a little weird?" Samantha said as she placed the jello on his nightstand. "What was that all about?"

"Ah nothing, I just wanted to talk to you alone."

"Oh oh!"

"No, don't worry, nothing bad. Come sit down." He patted the spot next to him on the bed.
As Declan reached out to hold her hands, Samantha sat on the bed facing him.  "I want to thank you."

"Thank me? For what?"

"For loving me and always being there for me."

"I haven't really been there for you this past week though. I'm so sorry for that. I don't..."
Declan stopped her, "Let's not talk about that right now. I really don't care what happened over the past week. All I care about is that you are here with me now and you want to be here. Do you want to be here?"

"Yes of course. Declan I love you and only you."

"Good." Declan leaned forward and kissed Samantha softly on the lips. "You know when I first met you, there was something that drew me to you. I had to know everything about you, I wanted to get to know you better. When you agreed to go out with me I was over the moon. I felt like I had won the lottery." Declan paused for a moment as he looked down at their hands intertwined.

"I was ecstatic when you asked me. I really didn't think I had any chance with you besides a friendship."

"Why would you think that? Did I ever make you feel like that?"

"I don't know why." Samantha shrugged her shoulders, "It wasn't anything you said or did. I guess I make myself think that so as not to get my hopes up. I guess I was a little scared of getting my heart broken again."

"Oh baby," Declan raised his hand to brush her cheek, "I don't want you to ever think you don't belong with me. I thought I was in love before but meeting you showed me what true love really feels like. Your love has made me a better man, a better version of myself and I can't imagine living a single moment on this earth without you." His hand slid under the blanket beside him where he pulled out the little black box. As he slowly opened it, he looked into her eyes, "I know in my heart that you are the only woman for me and I promise to spend every day showing you. Will you make me the happiest man alive and be my wife?"

Samantha gasped as she raised her hands to her face. Her smile grew as her eyes welled up. "Yes." she whispered at first and then as she removed her hands, she almost screamed it. "Yes!"
Samantha held out her left hand as Declan took the ring out of the box. He slid it onto her finger and pulled her in for a long, deep kiss.

"I love you so much." He said.

Declan laid back on the bed as he pulled his fiancé into him. Samantha wrapped herself around him as she placed her head on his chest. She held out her hand to admire the ring as it twinkled in the light.

"Do you like it?" he asked

"Declan, it is absolutely beautiful. I love it and I love you." He squeezed her tight and kissed the top of her head. "But I do have a question for you."

"Ask away?"

"What are you doing in town? Did you come to surprise me because I thought you were still on set?"
