Mila's POV

"Honestly? Fuck you, Bill!" The words burst out of me, sounding more childish than I intended. "You exhaust me. I'm tired of you. I can't dig into your mind anymore. I just want to go home, eat dinner with my husband, watch a movie, and rest for once." I lied to him, choosing carefully the words that would hurt him most, my own heart breaking with every word I said.

"Then go!" he snapped back.

As I turned to leave, I felt the familiar sting of rejection. I wished he would stop me, but he never did. So I went home, feeling empty once again. But it was the right choice, to save him.

Opening the door to my apartment, my idea of relaxation vanished instantly. Matt was there, visibly drunk, his face full of anger.

"If you lie to me one more time about where you've been, I will lose it!" he growled, approaching me with a predatory look.

"I was out with my friends," I lied yet again, hoping he would believe me.

"Oh, is that what you call that mascara-wearing bitch of a man?" he shouted in disgust.

His remarks shocked me. He was aware of Bill's existence. But how?

/ What Mila didn't know was that Matt had been aware of Bill since the day Bill carried her home completely drunk. That guard Bill threatened had called Matt right away. /

"I don't know what you're talking about. You're wasted, go to sleep," I replied, trying to remain calm.

"Do you fuck him?" he kept pushing. "Is this some bizarre fetish of yours? Are you into women now? He sure looks like one."

I refused to satisfy his anger by keeping my face motionless. "As I said, I don't know what you're talking about."

"Oh, so you ARE fucking him. What is it, a huge dick or are you just a filthy whore?" He stepped closer, forcing me against the wall.

I could have taken him down easily. Instead, I froze and stayed silent, feeling guilt for lying but knowing there was no way to explain my complicated life to him.

Suddenly, a sharp pain exploded in my head. "What the hell, Matt?" I yelled, feeling blood drip down my forehead.

"Oh, you think that's bad?" He laughed, holding a blood-covered wine bottle. "How about I put this bottle between your legs?"

I was usually quick to react, but my head was spinning. I was already exhausted and felt myself slipping into unconsciousness. "I should have never come home," was my last thought before everything went black, feeling the second hit on my head.
