Mila's POV
I watched him get up and walk towards the door as he left the room. I couldn't hold tears back anymore. They streamed down my face uncontrollably, softening the blood I could still taste on my lips.
"Bring the doctor, but make sure it's our person. No one has to know. It's urgent. Yes, I am at her house." I overheard Bill speaking on the phone in the next room.
Then he walked back in, steady and composed. "This is how it's gonna go now. My doctor is on the way. He will check on you, make sure you don't have internal bleeding, and will make stitches if necessary." Bill stated with a voice that gave me no choice but to obey him.
Bill's POV
As the doctor worked on Mila, I waited in the living room, losing my patience. "What's taking so long? It's been an hour," I looked at Georg, who had arrived with the doctor.
"Bill, are you sure you know what you're doing?" Georg asked, concerned. "Why are you involving yourself in this? She's not someone to save. That woman has probably killed more people than you. If her husband did this, it's between them. It's not your concern."
"Just shut up for once!" I snapped, feeling my frustration boil over.
"No, you shut up for once! How long will we have to cover your mistakes?" Georg's hunter eyes narrowed, his anger barely contained. "You'll lose everything for that woman. Don't make same mistake Tom did."
"Haven't I already lost it all?" I shot back, knowing it would intimidate him more.
"Sorry, I can't do this today. I'm leaving," Georg said, storming out before things escalated further.
Moments after Georg left, the doctor came out from the room. "So how bad is it?" I asked, trying to keep my voice steady.
"No broken bones. A contusion on her head. I had to put twelve stitches in her..." the doctor hesitated.
"Just say it, I don't care," I urged him.
"Twelve stitches in her private parts," the doctor continued, a bit embarrassed. "She needs bed rest for at least two weeks. She won't be able to walk for the first few days, so I'd recommend hiring a caretaker."
"Thanks. You can leave now," I commanded, my mind racing with what needed to be done next.
As I walked into her room, I saw her sound asleep. Eerie peace filled the room. She belonged there, everything was luxurious, and styled to the slightest detail.
I sat on the chair next to her bed and looked at her tormented body. She looked so small curled into a blanket like a little child. I could never hurt that fragile body of hers. A few years ago I would have thought differently.
Is this what Tom felt for Taylor?
Mila's POV
I opened my eyes, my mind was cleared this time. I wondered how long I slept. It was a sunny day outside. For a split second, I got scared seeing a body slouched on the sofa next to my bed.
His legs too long for a small chair, hands crossed on his chest, silent breathing of him. He looked both ironic and angelic at the same time. I couldn't help but stare until he opened his eyes. Sunlight hit his dark brown eyes, making them hazel.
We stared at each other for a few minutes. I had no idea what to say, and it seemed like he didn't either.
"Thank you," I took the lead.
"So, what do you eat for breakfast? Should I bring coffee?" he said with fake excitement to cheer me up.
"I am not hungry." I didn't lie. I felt my stomach turn and twist from the thought of food.
