Following Shane and Sophie's romantic and sexual night together, Shane walked her to school and the two of them were in high spirits, overwhelmed with joy because they had managed to find a seemingly perfect love, in an imperfect world.

However, not all relationships can prosper, without incident.

As lunch came around, Shane looked for Sophie in the cafeteria, but she was nowhere to be seen. 'Where are you?' read the text that Shane had just typed to Sophie. But she failed to open the text message. Thinking little of it, Shane continued with his day and sat through a series of boring classes before the final bell eventually sounded.

However, as Shane strides home, he scanned the street with his gorgeous sapphire eyes, but could see the small, golden haired girl nowhere. Pulling out his cell phone, he checked to see if she had replied to his text message from lunch. Much to his surprise, she had done no such thing.

Shane sat a while that night wondering why she had so clearly avoided him that day. Or perhaps he was just overthinking.

The next morning, Shane was at ease, knowing that Sophie was sat in front of him in first period, maths. Much to his bewilderment, as he sat waiting rather impatiently for her, before realising that she was sat at the front of the class, two rows ahead of him, leaving her usual seat empty.

Now he knew, that something was wrong.

As the bell sounded for second period, Sophie dashed out of the room and disappeared into the large crowd of teenagers before he could grasp a chance to challenge her on her odd change in behaviour.

It seemed bad to him, but he was already beginning to miss her.

As lunch arrived, instead of joining his friends at the table, Shane searched the school grounds for her. He had lost all hope of finding her, until he found himself moping back to the cafeteria, he heard faint crying coming from the gap between the sports hall and the outdoor bike shed on the yard where he was standing.

Shane peered around the bike shed, curiously, only to find Sophie sat on the ground, weeping whilst holding her books tightly against her chest.
"Hey, hey. Soph. What's going on with you?" he asked emphatically as he crouched next to her.

"Nothing! I don't want to speak to you Shane!" Sophie snapped as she hastily got up and barged past his large figure.

"But, Soph!" yelled Shane as he pursued her across the yard. "I SAID LEAVE ME ALONE!" screamed Sophie as she ran into the school. Except she didn't seem angry.... more... broken hearted.

After school, Shane saw Sophie walking ahead of him once again, heading for home. He crossed the street and sped up, deliberately putting himself into her view. He wanted so desperately for her to call him over, like she did on the first day that they met. But she never did.

His heart ached so wrenchingly to speak to her. But despite his immense confusion, he wanted to respect her wishes, and continued home, in silence.

That evening, Shane invited his best buddies, Dylan and Aron over to play video games, as a way of distracting him, but this only led to him talking to the boys about Sophie's bizarre change of heart.

"I just don't know what I did boys. What did I do wrong?" asked Shane in a tone which emphasised how much pain Sophie had caused him.

"C'mon bro, you're a great guy. If she doesn't appreciate that and all that you have to offer. She ain't worth the time or the effort" advised Dylan as he placed his buff hand onto his hurting friend's shoulder. "Maybe she found another guy dude" proposed Aron, rather idiotically given the circumstance. Shane and Dylan both raised their heads giving such an evil death stare that it could frighten a ghost.

"Sorry, sorry. I just dunno what to suggest dudes. I mean, there's plenty more fish in the sea Shane bro" added Aron.
"Yeah, but they ain't Sophie" murmured Shane in a pit of self pity.
"Maybe the nerdy shit freaked her out" wondered Shane as he spoke his thoughts. "Nah dude, you said yourself, she was cool with it" argued Dylan.

Shane just sighed with heartfelt sadness embedded into his tone.
"Oh come here you big pansy!" exclaimed Dylan as he wrapped Shane into a headlock and shook him around, "who you callin pansy!?" laughed Shane as he fought his friend's equally strong arms away and brawled with him on the floor.
"Ain't no way bro's getting all soppy over some chick" mocked Dylan as he rolled around, wrestling with his friend in an attempt to cheer him up.

But this was only a temporary distraction for Shane, as he soon discovered upon his friend's departure.

The next day at school only worsened things, as rumours began to spread amongst the hot girls that Shane was now available again. All day he had to deal with floozy high school chicks flirting with him, fluttering their eyelashes like sex deprived peacocks, and deliberately brushing past his rock solid figure at every opportunity they got.
But again. None of them. We're Sophie.

Sophie had continued to treat Shane's entire existence with indifference, walking past him in the hallway and saying nothing, as if they had never even met. Words alone cannot express how much this hurt the blue-eyed boy. Though he never showed it. It simply ripped his heart to shreds.

"How come we haven't seen much of Sophie lately?" Asked Shane's mom as she plated her fabulous homemade leak and potato soup into their finest, china bowls. "I dunno mom. I guess we're both just busy with school" he lied in response. "Don't give me that, is something going on darling?" questioned mom, being her usual intrusive self. Or perhaps she just wanted to hear about her son's life. Like most teenagers, Shane hardly uttered a word about his life away from home once he started high school a couple years back.

"I SAID IT'S FINE!" Shane snapped as his mom jumped with fright spilling the soup all over the countertop. Shane stormed out of the house and slammed the door behind him.

He walked through the woodland, following the dirt path to the lake where him and Sophie had shared one of many romantic moments together, just a week prior. 'What the Hell happened?' he wondered to himself.

As he approached the lake, he could hear music and voices. It sounded like a party. To his surprise, a different high school was having a party there in the woods.

He was hardly in the mood for partying, and turned back. However, Shane froze in place as a friendly, feminine voice spoke to him. "Hey handsome, where you going so soon?".

Shane turned around to see a 5ft 7 brunette girl standing before him with a beer can in her hands. 'Wow. She's beautiful' he thought as she ran the tip of her finger from the top of Shane's arm down to his wrist.

"I'm Georgia, I go to Oceanside High" she smiled kindly. "No way, same" added Shane as he smiled down at the gorgeous dark haired girl. "Stay a while. We'll have a drink together" Georgia suggested. "Sounds cool" nodded Shane as he followed the girl over to the icebox of beers and other alcohols.
