I gulp as I finish reading the letter, rushing to the stall and throwing up in the toilet. After about half an hour of being in the stall, I exit the abandoned bathrooms, eating mints like my life depended on it, hoping no one smelt the vomit on my breath, and I fixed myself up like nothing happened. As I walked up the stairs, I stuffed the letter in my pocket of my pants, knowing no one will check in there, and keeping the letter safe. But something felt off. Very off. I looked behind me, feeling a cool breeze behind me, like someone was following me, but no one was there. I turned around and sighed, rubbing my head and eyes.
I sighed deeply as I reached the second floor, groaning lightly at the slight throbbing that's occurring in my temple. I decided to text Celine to let her know that I'll be hanging out at the library for break, to try and help with my headache. When I reached the library, going down at least 5 corridors, making many turns, I greeted the librarian politely and sat down in the secluded area where no one could see me. I sighed as I placed my head down on the table, feeling the throbbing get worse. Some time passed, I'm not sure how much, exactly, but enough for the librarian to approach me swiftly, calmly and quietly with grace as she lightly tapped my shoulder, informing me that it was time to leave "I'm sorry, dear, but school ends soon. You best be going back to your last class for the remaining 40 minutes, or principal Coward will be on both of our backs."
I sat up with a groan but giggled at the nickname she gave the school principal. She wasn't wrong, everyone in the school knew that he's a coward, and money hungry, but no one dares say anything unless you're as rich and "powerful" as Bethany, or as careless with words as the librarian, and I found that quite amusing at times. We've always had the best of conversations, given I'm always in here for hours on end- mostly studying, but in here nonetheless. I stretched my arms above my head and heard a faint crack of my shoulders, feeling more relaxed and less tense than what I was "thank you, Miss Geometric, for letting me have some time in here to rest. Today has been... strange for me, and tiring." She lightly chuckled and smiled subtly "no doubt about that, dear. Most people hate school, I did in my time, I can tell you that now."
I smiled sweetly at the old librarian as I stood from the study table, grabbing my empty bag and beginning to walk out of the library "oh by the way dear, congratulations." I turned to the woman, small grey hairs scattered across her hairline, shorter than most old women- about 4'12, and wrinkly but young looking, and I tilted my head "congratulations? What for?" She stared at me for a moment, and I thought she resembled a statue until she laughed out loud- the sound echoing in my ears like a soft melody "for you and your boyfriend, of course dear! He came by earlier, letting me know you'd come in here for a rest as you looked exhausted, and he seems to really like you. I don't know how you do it, but you've got him wrapped around your finger."
I stayed silent after her little remark, just returning a small nod in her way, walking out of the library, feeling my skin crawl, then I received a message on my phone, feeling it vibrate softly in my pocket. Thinking it was Celine or Taylor, I excitedly took out my phone, smiling. But that quickly dropped when I read the message on my screen.
