One of the reasons why Roy and Dot's relationship is so strained at the moment is because they're both on different stages when it comes to grief.
Roy is currently somewhere in-between the anger-depression stage while Dot went through a lot of these on during the chapter and now she's in-between the bargaining-depression stage. Roy is trying to completely shut himself off from everyone while Dot is trying to reach out to the one friend she has left.
A lot of other factors go into it such as Roy finding Dot's denial too overwhelming and Dot having only made friends with Liko so she majorly blames it on herself that they couldn't save her in time and so gets frustrated when she finds that Roy 'didn't really care', but there is way too much to cover and these are just the main reasons why their friendship is so strained and fractured at the moment
